I stayed at the Radisson this past weekend for a wedding. The Pros: The staff was extremely friendly, flexible and helpful. There was usually only one person working the desk so there was often a wait but my questions were always answered politely and in full. They even apologized for me for something that wasn't their fault. The restaurant and room service was so reasonably priced I actually asked if the menu was current. Some of my fellow wedding goers went across the street to McDonalds for breakfast. I went down to the restaurant and ordered the surprisingly tasty and well stocked breakfast buffet. We paid almost the same thing and mine was far better. The sleep number beds were very comfortable though I had difficulty learning how to use mine and there weren't any instructions that I could find. The wedding areas were beautiful, the pool was good sized and not overcrowded and parking was right next to the hotel with an adequate number of spaces.
The cons: The reason for the reconstruction going on at this property is obvious. The rooms are very small. I shared a two bed room with only one other person and didn't even have a spot to put my suitcase! The bathrooms were also tiny and difficult to move around much in. Another wedding goer had one of the newly reconstructed rooms and it sounds like they are much larger and more comfortable. Back to our room, strangely there no other mirrors besides the one in the bathroom which made it difficult to get ready as we had to share. The biggest disappointment in the hotel as far as I am concerned was the condition of the carpets and furniture. I realize that there was a good deal of remodeling going on, but I really think the hallways and elevator areas could have been vacuumed and dusted at least for the weekend. There were adequate signs explaining the mess but the two days I was there, no work was being done and it started to feel like a flimsy excuse. Finally, I didn't expect my sleep to be interrupted by the train noise because I am a pretty heavy sleeper but it was. My roommate was not however, so if a person is sensitive to the sound of nearby trains they may want to consider a stay somewhere else.
I expect that once the reconstruction of this property is done, it will be a fine place to stay and if I am ever back in Bismarck I won't hesitate to book a room here. If there is still a lot of dust and dirt around once reconstruction is done, my perspective may be entirely different but if the work that is underway improves the size of the rooms, condition of the hallways and provides perhaps more mirrors and/or larger closets, this hotel will be a very nice play to stay.
