I stayed at the Radisson this past weekend for a wedding. The Pros: The staff was extremely friendly, flexible and helpful. There was usually only one person working the desk so there was often a wait but my questions were always answered politely and in full. They even apologized for me for something that wasn't their fault. The restaurant and room service was so reasonably priced I actually asked if the menu was current. Some of my fellow wedding goers went across the street to McDonalds for breakfast. I went down to the restaurant and ordered the surprisingly tasty and well stocked breakfast buffet. We paid almost the same thing and mine was far better. The sleep number beds were very comfortable though I had difficulty learning how to use mine and there weren't any instructions that I could find. The wedding areas were beautiful, the pool was good sized and not overcrowded and parking was right next to the hotel with an adequate number of spaces.

The cons: The reason for the reconstruction going on at this property is obvious. The rooms are very small. I shared a two bed room with only one other person and didn't even have a spot to put my suitcase! The bathrooms were also tiny and difficult to move around much in. Another wedding goer had one of the newly reconstructed rooms and it sounds like they are much larger and more comfortable. Back to our room, strangely there no other mirrors besides the one in the bathroom which made it difficult to get ready as we had to share. The biggest disappointment in the hotel as far as I am concerned was the condition of the carpets and furniture. I realize that there was a good deal of remodeling going on, but I really think the hallways and elevator areas could have been vacuumed and dusted at least for the weekend. There were adequate signs explaining the mess but the two days I was there, no work was being done and it started to feel like a flimsy excuse. Finally, I didn't expect my sleep to be interrupted by the train noise because I am a pretty heavy sleeper but it was. My roommate was not however, so if a person is sensitive to the sound of nearby trains they may want to consider a stay somewhere else.

I expect that once the reconstruction of this property is done, it will be a fine place to stay and if I am ever back in Bismarck I won't hesitate to book a room here. If there is still a lot of dust and dirt around once reconstruction is done, my perspective may be entirely different but if the work that is underway improves the size of the rooms, condition of the hallways and provides perhaps more mirrors and/or larger closets, this hotel will be a very nice play to stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a newly reconstructed one

This hotel is in downtown Bismarck and the train tracks run within about 1 block. I had a train go by at 2AM, 230AM, 3 AM, 330 AM and 4 AM with horns blaring. Something really needs to be done at night to let people sleep.

Hotel is nice and room are too. I would rate the rooms a 4 out of 5. The molding and door itself on the outside are quite messy. Seems like an old hotel remodeled and they just didn't do a good job of covering up the age on the door and door jam. Everything was clean and nice otherwise

Room Tip: If you must stay here, insist on a room on the north side which is away from railroad tracks.

My husband and I chose the Radisson for the value and location. We both had many great things to say about the property upon arrival. Apples at front desk, front desk very friendly and informative, lobby area GORGEOUS, on-site restaurant and lounge, sleeping room very comfortable and clean; great view of the city (on 7th floor); friendly staff; MOD John very friendly and pleasurable to visit with; breakfast in bed for the first time in years; within walking distance to the most mouth-watering food and drink I've had in a long time (Peacock Alley); Overall, will definitely recommend and we cannot wait to come back in December for Avenged Sevenfold!

We arrived at this aging property and had no problem checking in. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. If you are looking for a bellman at this facility you are out of luck. We booked a king suite with a connecting room. We found the room to be comfortable but aged in decor. It appears that this facility is an old hotel built in the lat 60's and is managed by the Radisson group. The common areas (hallways, ballrooms, meeting rooms & etc) are aged and need a good cleaning. The pool area was uninviting and dirty. Parking is in an adjacent city lot and accessible from the mezzanine level using stairs and a tenuous elevator. Some doors to the parking lot are locked via heavy chain & padlock.
At night the noise of trains and motorcycles makes falling asleep difficult.
One plus for this hotel is that it is within walking distance of several nice restaurants.
With some cosmetic upgrades and a good cleaning this property would be a solid 2.5 star.

Room Tip: Upper floors facing the capital building at end of hallway.
