Came here as soon as they opened to get some steps in for the day. Pretty walk. The old live oaks were my favorite. I bet it would be nice in the spring when there are flowers. No flowers to see now. The gnomes were cute. I wasn't impressed with the butterfly house. I expected more from it. Few butterflies were in it and it was really hot in there are no breeze came through.

Airlie is fun for all ages! We went with grandparents and kids ages 15, 12, 10, and8. Right now they have different gnomes set up around the park and my kids enjoyed finding them all! The butterfly house is always interesting and we love it when we can find a swan out on the water.

Beautiful place. Lovely gardens, an awe-inspiring oak, compelling public art, and plenty of activities throughout the year (concerts, first Sundays w/ free admission to county residents, and even Halloween). Don't miss Enchanted Airlie w/ Santa, gorgeous lights, and cocoa/wine. A Wilmington tradition.

Airlie Gardens is definitely worth visiting! The tulips were in bloom during our visit and it was gorgeous. At the main office we were given a map of the gardens and a pamphlet showing filming locations for various tv shows. Wear comfortable shoes as there is quite a bit of walking but there is a trolly available that stops at several places along the trail.
