I recently stayed at the lodge for 2 nights in the Ruby room. It was so wonderful! I arrived in the early evening only to witness a beautiful Smokey Mountain sunset from the front porch of the house. The house was bustling with families, couples, pets, kids and workers. After getting settled into my spacious room and napping on the most comfortable bed, I headed up to the restaurant for dinner. The food was a great mix of home-style cooking and restaurant quality. The only downside is it took a while to get the food, mainly because I know they were making it from scratch. There is a great patio on the front of the house for lounging or dining, a rec room downstairs, and huge living room upstairs all full of wonderful antiques and games.

We had a great 2 days and nights. Excellent food with a friendly/casual atmosphere. The Emerald room was large with an electric fire place and great views down the valley. We discovered new hiking trails and views of waterfalls outside of nearby Bryson City.

This is a beautiful property with fantastic food. The breakfasts and dinners were gourmet! There are trails to hike around the lodge and porches with a great view. It is eclectic and the hosts are very friendly and accommodating. They are new owners and are still working out some of the logistics but graciously met all our requests. Because it's an older building, there was a bit of sound transmission into the room: dogs barking down the hall and footsteps above. This wasn't a problem for us but may be for those looking for peace and quiet. This is more of a family and pet-friendly place than a couples retreat. We loved our stay here and would go back!

The lodge was beautiful. The place is extremely pet-friendly; our two small dogs enjoyed it and were welcomed. The Pearl Suite was comfortable, attractive, with views of the mountains. Breakfast was delicious and had a good number of options. We particularly enjoyed the hot chocolate during the mornings. There are trails for hiking at the lodge, which was very convenient. Nearby attractions, such as the Nantahala Brewery Co. in Bryson City provided daily entertainment as well. The family are wonderful hosts - James, Tisha, their children, John and Nancy, alike. Recommended for a nice, relaxing, pet-friendly get-away for friends! We will be returning next year to watch the leaves fall.

Great location in the beautiful mountains of NC. There was lots to do nearby and the breakfast and restaurant for dinner were excellent. we had the Ruby room with a king size bed and attached bath with wonderful mountain views. The place is eclectic and super clean. All in all, a very relaxed atmosphere...
