Felt like some seafood while vacationing in Maggie Valley. Arrived around around 5:30 PM and was promptly seated. Wait person, Jenny, was helpful in recommending favorites. I ordered the local trout, both tasty and cooked perfectly. Liked the foo so much that we returned again to try the fried shrimp. Ordered 10 coconut shrimp and could only eat 5 as they were huge. Great place for seafood far from the sea.

We had lunch and ordered fried seafood. Tom had the flounder and I had a combo of fried flounder and shrimp. It was just average. It came with 2 sides. We both had the coleslaw and it was very good. I had the seafood chowder and it was tasty. Tom had the seasoned fries (only choice for fries) and found them too seasoned for his liking. Parking is easy, waitstaff friendly. They have other choices besides seafood.

My husband had the seafood platter with fried shrimp and oysters. The oysters were cooked perfectly.

I had the fried chicken breast, mashed potatoes and collard greens. It was good. Mashed potatoes were not homemade and the collards were good.

Friendly service. $32 for our meal.

Have been there since 2004 and tried it again after they moved from old location a few years ago. The kitchen has really gone down hill. Had oyster "Rockefeller". Oysters were the size of a dime and piled with spinach then some sort of runny cheese like soup was poured over the whole plate. Disgusting and the gumbo was NOT gumbo. Bunch of kids working there and it was obvious no one was actively managing the staff. Never again and now I know why a Doctor friend of ours and his wife declined to join us for dinner!!!

Dear Hawhaven 3659,

While the restaurant relocated four years ago due to the state of North Carolina taking Howell Mill Road due to right of Imitate Domaine.

We however are blessed to have our original kitchen staff from our old location. Our Oyster Rockefeller are Hillman Selects in shell topped with spinach, Hollandaise and cheese same as what we served at our old location.

We feel our Gumbo is a true Gumbo with andoulli, okra, corn, shrimp, crawfish etc and topped w old Bay all over rice. Sorry you felt this wasn't a true Gumbo to your expectations.

At the Galley we have a manager on duty every shift and a great front desk all of whom are more than welcome to listen an take care of any dislikes of a menus offering. Our staff varies in ages all of whom care very much.

I'm sorry your friends declined but feel it wasn't due to our food or service. Again we always have a manager on duty.

While we appreciate your opinion it is something we wish we would of had the opportunity to correct while you were in-house.

Hopefully you will again join us and your experience will be better.

Warmest Regards,. Soni Carrier
