The reception staff were very polite and helpful on booking in, giving information as required.
We stayed in a one room apartment at the back of the complex with parking outside the accommodation. These rooms have been recently renovated and it was obvious to see that they had been done up. The paintwork was new, appeared to have new flooring and kitchen area was well appointed. The bedroom was comfortable, as was the bed. The bathroom was huge with a very large bath, separate shower and twin bathroom sinks.
However, the shower recess leaked a large amount of water over the floor due to incorrect fitting of the shower screen. Also there was only a sheer curtain in the lounge area with no other curtain to give privacy. It appeared to be missing, as there was both curtains available in the bedroom.
Also the fly wire door to the outside patio space had many holes, letting in the mosquitoes!
Breakfast was served in the dining area of the hotel and was by menu ordering. Our first morning was good with the breakfast served being excellent. The 2nd morning was extremely slow with the meals coming out a little cold after sitting on the servery for some time. I'm glad we weren't on the time schedule as we would have been very late.
The location of the hotel is out of the town area, so you really need a car to get to the restaurants - it would be a bit too far to walk.
Overall, we loved our stay at this hotel and did mention our concerns to the staff as we checked out - hope everything has been recitified now.

The rooms have been redone recently and are neat and functional. It's a shame there is no balcony/courtyard off the rooms but overall the rooms were pleasant, although definitely missing some soundproofing (really loud compared to other hotels eg could hear exactly what our neighbours were watching on TV at 1am, when anyone moved or spoke etc).

The service was quite dreadful, but talking to others it seems to be to be expected here. On the first night we arrived we (2 people) went straight to dinner and were told they were too busy (there was only 1 occupied table) and that they did have availability but had a staff member off sick so would not accept us. Their suggestion was it was only a few km each way to town, and there are some restaurants and stuff that might be open. All good as we ended up finding somewhere much nicer to eat, even though we were just looking for a quick simple dinner. The restaurant was not open for several days a week, which seemed odd when the place was packed and a long weekend and festival weekend in the valley. With no walkable options nearby for food, this needs to be reviewed.

On the last morning my parents had prepaid for breakfast. They sat in the dining room for an hour waiting for their order before they forced the staff member to check and it turned out no ones orders in the entire place had gone to the kitchen, and none of the staff members thought this was weird? The chef was just chilling doing nothing? And wait staff just not serving any meals and not following up on anything? My parents actually let others in the full dining room know that their orders hadn't been actioned at all, so there was a lot of refunds to be issued and unhappy customers who couldn't keep waiting due to flights etc. Again, we actually ended up finding somewhere nicer and cheaper, but the lack of any care or responsibility or management was quite astounding.

Housekeeping was hit and miss. Completely different every day, it was like roulette as to whether you might get clean towels, bed made etc. Mini bar gets charged but not restocked.

There used to be a pool and spa but they have been filled in now. There was some random furniture around they area you can use, but it was filthy and we had to do a thorough clean first. Outdoor bins were overflowing.

Overall the rooms were completely fine, but the management and service need major improvements.

Our first impressions were fine. The pleasant welcome received from the lady on reception and the nice appearance of the reception area itself seemed to make for a good start. We were also told they had a wine tasting from a local winemaker that night at 530pm. We came back in for that a little later on, but it had been called off. ‘Oh sorry about that’! Clearly it ‘wasn’t their problem’, and there was no offer to come into the bar instead, say for a half price drink or something…... It was just like ‘oh well, too bad’!
Every impression thereafter took this rating on a downward slide.
The ‘newly refurbished’ rooms (we had a deluxe room) looked EXTREMELY cheaply done. Done in a fairly modern way, the choice of old-fashioned ugly armchairs is almost hilarious - they are totally out of keeping!
The bath, which is in the living area, leaked everywhere all over the lounge area floor and it wasn’t even coming via the overflow so that’s a real worry! Then the bathroom itself is so tiny you have to close the door to get in the shower and the water also leaks out everywhere from the shower.
The soundproofing is non existent. You can hear absolutely every word of your neighbour’s conversation. That was our biggest issue and it was incredibly off-putting.
Breakfast, when it finally happened, after wrong dishes initially were brought to the table, was just stone cold. The Eggs Benedict looked nice enough but the pieces of ham were still chilled as though they’d come straight from the fridge and not warmed through, the muffins were not toasted and the sauce itself was cold too, so only the eggs themselves held the tiniest bit of temperature - room temperature at best. Also of note: We are received no explanation, until we asked, what was actually included for breakfast (we paid for it with our room rate) and we just got menus plonked down in front of us with prices for each dish.
At check-out, there was no one attending the desk. After some time waiting, I asked a person in the restaurant if they could find someone to come to the desk to do checkout. The young girl seemed amazed I would ask her such a thing, but said she would ask someone ‘in a few minutes’. She clearly didn’t do that, as after a while I went back into the restaurant again and found the relevant person who claimed no one had told her I was waiting there! It’s absurd there isn’t someone permanently on the front desk at that time when people are of course checking out. Fed up by this stage!
We’ve decided the only thing going for this hotel is the fact you can book single nights, which is otherwise very hard in the Barossa.

Good morning Lisa,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We do appreciate the feedback.

We do apologise about the wine tasting scenario, unfortunately this was out of our control and we unfortunately found out very last minute.

It is also disappointing that our newly refurbished rooms didn`t met your expectations.

I have noted the bath situation to our maintenance team for further investigation as to why it would be leaking. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We do hope to have the pleasure of hosting you again sometime in the not too distant future.

Kindest regards,
Caitlin Roberts.

We had a two bedroom apartment for our stay at the Barossa Weintal. It was a very comfortable place to base ourselves while in the Barossa. The room was well equipped and the complex was peaceful and quiet. A couple of mins drive from the Tanunda main street, it was close enough to restaurants and cafes to make sure we were well catered. And it's an easy drive to many great wineries. A really good experience.

We stayed here two nights and had a nice spacious room, recently renovated, with a stand alone bath in the living area. It was very clean with a comfortable bed and ambiance. Unfortunately, presumably because of the bath, the main window was frosted so there were no nice views of the gardens. Still I enjoyed a good soak in the bath on both evenings.
We ate in the hotel restaurant on the first night. When we arrived we were placed towards the back of the restaurant away from the windows overlooking the gardens. There was a table free at the front but when I asked if we could take it I was told it was already reserved even though there was no reserved sign and we had arrived towards the end of the serving session so it was unlikely that others would come even later. Needless to say that table remained unoccupied all evening. Why do they do that? The service was not great.
Nevertheless this is a good base to explore the Barossa and get a very comfortable nights sleep
