We have been expecting your poor review, as promised by you prior to departing our venue. You clearly did not enjoy your dining experience at Char, and as much as we do our best to please all of the customers that dine with us, it was clear this was not going to be the case on this occasion.
Our team at Char take great pride in delivering a great experience to all of our guests and hold ourselves to a high standard of doing so, and to twist our words is not fair on our team who give their best every service. “A healthy squeeze of Thai chilli sauce” was not something that was or would be recommended to “fix” the forementioned issue. Adding to that, “what would you like me to do about it” has quite a different tone to it than “is there anything I can do about it” which is what was actually said. We do care about our guests experience, the food we provide and the service we offer, so we will always try to rectify anything that our guests feel may not have been up to their standards.
What was served was exactly what is stated on our menu: ‘THAI BEEF SALAD of premium chargrilled SA beef strips, cucumber, bean shoots, coriander, Vietnamese mint, peanuts & house made Thai dressing’. The dish includes 150grams of SA prime eye fillet, crushed peanuts and a dressing made in our kitchen (not from a bottle). Your complaints about the dish not being to your liking were referred by your waitress onto our Restaurant Manager, who personally addressed them with you. After hearing out all your negative comments you were offered another salad or even a completely different dish from our menu, to which you declined, and then proceeded to eat the remaining salad in its entirety.
Food is always subject to opinion, and it is completely fine to express that this particular dish was not to your liking. Your attitude towards our staff however was not appreciated.
Though be it not ours, we do hope you continue to support our region through your patronage of our fellow Barossa businesses and we wish you all the best for your future dining experiences.
