A great place to stay in Barossa

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 14 May 2018
The cottages are within walking distance of two wineries (Lehmann & Langmeil) & very short drive to centre of Tanunda. The bikes were handy for a quick recon of the town, & lovely surrounds to go for a walk

Great cottages, well equipped with kitchen, lounge, bedroom and bathroom. Bikes are available to use and when you arrive the fridge is nicely stocked, with breakfast items.Cythia was helpful. You park right outside the cottages. The town centre is about a 25/30 min stroll and there are a couple of wineries within walking distance. There’s seating out the front and back of your cottage, plus a pool and sauna, plus if like us you have been on a road trip for several weeks, there's a laundry, which is really useful. The only thing I would change is the very loud bathroom fan, which was annoying at night!

The owners were lovely. The small cottages are next to each other but you wouldn't know it... it felt very private. They offer pushbikes to get around on too. Delicious fresh bread each morning along with a small sample of some local Barossa treats. Very close to Peter Lehmans and langmeil winerys. Loved our stay.

We received a very warm welcome on arrival from Cynthia who took us to our room and gave us a tour of the facilities, including the very clean and inviting spa area. Breakfast provisions were ample (not sure if dietary requirements are catered to though) and the bottle of bubbly and fresh flowers were a lovely welcoming touch. The room however, I could best describe as 'adequate'. Although the raked ceilings are a nice feature, the decor is very dated and despite the RC air conditioner, I felt cold most of the time as the stone walls radiate the chill so it would have been nice to have had throw rugs in the lounge room and a heat lamp in the bathroom. The electric blanket, however, ensured we had a very comfortable night's sleep. It was very disappointing though to find dirty dishes in the kitchen cupboard (we washed all the dirties we found before our departure) and there were bits of foil (from chocolate wrappers?) on the bedroom floor which made us wonder if the room had been vacuumed since the last guests departed. Also a small bar of soap would have been nice as there was only a small bottle of 'bath gel' provided which was awkward to use in the shower. Convenient location and very quiet and peaceful.

My wife and I spent several nights here in May 2017 and also in 2013. We chose Langmeil Cottages because it is in a quiet location but close enough to walk to town or the wineries at the end of the street. The cottages have a comfy Queen bed, good sized wardrobe and side cabinets in a separate bedroom. The bathroom is small but is quite good. The rest of the cottage is a combined kitchen/dining/lounge area. There is every conceivable item that you could want in this area, especially for longer stays, when my wife does some cooking. The proprietor, Cynthia, welcomed us with the cabin being warmed by the time we arrived, a bottle of bubbly in the fridge, as well as bread, cereals, fruit juice, milk, fudge, etc, etc. The breakfast supplies are replenished each day. There is a pleasant garden view from the windows of the cottages.
For those who want more pampering, there is a spa and covered swimming pool in the grounds. There are also bikes available free, or electric bikes to hire. We thoroughly recommend Langmeil Cottages if you visit the Barossa Valley.

Room tip: There are 4 cottages, all the same, but one adjoins the laundry.

Langmeil Cottages provided a great welcome, with nibbles and a bottle of bubbly to relax with. The cottage was clean, roomy and comfortable. We had a good night's sleep and enjoyed the continental breakfast. Would stay there again.
