We are so happy that you enjoyed your time in the Torres Strait. We recommend booking these tours early as they are very popular.

We took a short tour on Thursday Island whilst on a cruise. It is only a small island and we could have walked it if we had known. Unfortunately it was a wet and windy day. We were met at the wharf and taken by coach up to the fort where we were left to wander around by ourselves. We were then taken to see the local cemetery which I found rather strange. We had a quick drive round before being taken back to the wharf. It was a Saturday about 1pm and everywhere was closing up and was not interested in any custom from a cruise ship. If it had been a sunny day it would have been nice just to wander around by ourselves

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback, it makes a valuable tool to help us to continue to improve our services to you. May through to November is monsoon season in the Torres Strait and unfortunately wet, windy days are to be expected. The tour to Green Hill Fort allows you to wander at your leisure and take in the amazing views of the surrounding islands. We include a tour of the historic Thursday Island cemetery due to the cultural significance of the Japanese pearl diving industry. This component of the tour has proved to be very popular. Being a small town many of the stores are closed on weekends although we continue to lobby for longer opening hours.

We did the Thursday Island and Horn Island tour. The tours were nice but I would definitely not recommend doing both in one day. You would be much better off doing them on two separate days. The Thursday Island tour was a really good introduction to the island but I would have liked some free time to explore. The ferry leaves quite late in the morning and gets back early in the afternoon so there's not much chance to see things. The Horn Island tour was a real highlight and is very much worth a visit - especially if you are interested in WWII history.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. We are very happy that you enjoyed your tour. The Torres Strait paid a major role in World War 1 and World War 2. Due to connecting departures we are obligated to run the ferries at these times. We highly recommend taking two days to visit Thursday Island and surrounds if time allows.

From pickup at the pier off the ferry to return to the same spot, this tour was excellent value and experience. The guide was well informed and passed that across so all could enjoy the tour. The Island has lots of history, from the local indigenous people to the defense of Australia to the pearl industry.
