Amazing fantastic breathtaking place

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 13 Jan 2023
My wife and I and our 5 children would love to say a great big thank you to Rhett and his wife and your team of workers for such a truly beautiful amazing fantastic place to stay for the time that we did . We were that blown away of the size of lorella station its truly breathtaking scenery and wildlife and wilderness for all of us to experience. The hospitality that is shown by Rhett and your wife is something that you just don't get on any level no matter were you go these day's nothing is a issue or a hassle you are both only to happy to help out . It is truly beautiful place and surroundings it was truly spectacular to see what we did in our time there helicopter pool Rosie's rapids la spa and of course the hardest track to see all the rock pools wildfire emerald fossil just to name a few that we did the tracks some are easy and some not so easy it pays to keep ear out on tyre pressures that people are running as 1 mistakes or a little brain fade and the bull dust on some of the tracks will catch even the most experienced 4wds out and it might be a short wait or a long wait for help I did a couple of recoverys whilst we were we there and I was only to happy to help other people out that were alot stuck and not a chance of getting out only to happy I couldn't leave people stuck I'm always going to help . Even when it come to fixing TV settings in the nice cabin's that is part of the accommodation at lorrella Springs I was only to happy to help out with fixing the problem with that for you both . We have told so many people about lorrella Springs station as we move our way west at the moment we are stuck in lock down in Darwin but we could think of worst places to be lol lol lol .
Lorrella Springs station is just a fantastic place and truly breathtaking views and swimming holes thermal pools and endless 4wd camping areas the camping area and its facilities are I must say are not what you would expect in such a remote location to be able to have a nice hot shower at the end of the day a cold beverage or a few as well up on the deck watching the little freshwater croc and the turtle's in the pond is just fantastic to sit with other people and talk about were you've been or what the next adventure is your going on is truly great and to be able to talk with the people who run and own lorrella Springs and get good information about all the different places on were to go is simply fantastic.
I know that the time we stayed at lorrella was not near long enough so we are coming back in 2025 and to get in there earlier than we did this time because we missed the best part straight after the wet season we want to be in lorrella Springs as soon as possible can . We want be there for a while this time and with more gear so we can do so much more an more stay out at many of the remote locations to camp at get out to the beach not by helicopter either no fun in that lol lol but always a great way to see lorrella an locations as well not that we did this time as there is 7 of us and we would need a bigger helicopter or 2 lol lol . We are going to ask our friends to come along on the next trip as we want share this truly amazing fantastic place with as many as we can .
We thank you for sharing this truly amazing place with us and everyone else who makes it to your truly beautiful place in the Australian Gulf region an the limmen national Park.

Yours truly
Andrew an Hayleu Thank you again for allowing us to visit and stay in such a remote beautiful location with you thanks to both of you for this truly life experience

Thank you very much for another amazing visit to Lorella! Such a privilege to spend time in such a beautiful place, we all enjoyed exploring you beauties. The hot springs were a huge hit and the 4WD exploring were so much fun! Great place for a family camping trip to get off the grid and reconnect.

Room tip: Road is rough so expect to go slow and enjoy the journey

Love this place. Second July school holidays in a row. Amazing variety of adventures, good facilities and great support and advice from the team. Yes the road in is hard (lost a tyre pressure two on the way out for the second year in a row) but that just makes it feel more remote and hard earned. Driving around the challenging tracks is great fun. The opportunity to camp absolutely anywhere is fantastic.

Room tip: You need to be up for an adventure and rough roads. A typical caravan park this is not, which is the whole point. If you can go early

The road into Lorella Springs is only 31km long and took 45 minutes. It is the worst stretch of road between Darwin and Cape Crawford. Unfortunately that and the amenities tainted the experience for me, considering what you pay to stay there.

Very basic amenities-makeshift corrugated iron showers and toilets, shared by men and women with huge unplugged holes all over them. I was not at all comfortable and chose not to use the shower. The water was only hot if someone had fired up the wood heater. All a little too careless. There were barely any provisions available-shop almost empty, which was not an issue for us but I imagine some struggled. The hot spring near reception area was very warm and I really enjoyed it and the socialising, as it got crowded around 3-5 every day ( prob because people were using it as a substitute for their normal shower because of the poor amenities.) Happy hour was fun. The helicopter 1/2 trip was good. The 4WD tracks were demanding, and to get to some of the highlights of the station, took a reasonable walk after driving there. I felt it all a bit over-rated. We found staff lovely and very helpful. But Outback doesn't have to mean lacking in properly private shower and toilet cubicles, particularly in this day and age. One set of mixed amenities offered only shower curtains for doors. Not on for safety of youth and children. If they put a bit more effort in I would totally rate it as a worthwhile visit.

Room tip: We camped so I can't rate the rooms at Lorella Springs.

Located 127 Kilometres from Cape Crawford, Lorella Springs offers basic camp spots with access to showers (water can be warm, if you bring wood and light the boiler) and toilets in camp areas close to the homestead. Further away it's full on bush camping.

Some good walks, but tracks are rough and not exceptionally well marked.

It's worth the trip on the rough, corrugated roads.

Room tip: I wouldn't recommend going during the build up
