Disappointing

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 28 May 2021
The 29 km drive to get there is bull dust and bad corrugations, Stagnant turtle pool greats you at reception . Terrible toilets built with second hand corrugated iron and showers cement floor no hot water, the grey water runs onto the ground where you walk.
The entry to the thermal swimming area is steep and of dirt with loose wire mesh that moves and is dangerous also the water entry is very slippery and uneven, an accident waiting to happen.
The glossy brochure does not reflect the facility.
Very expensive to stay and it’s obvious this private owner does not put money back into the park

Very disappointed. The brochure is very misleading. The roads getting to the place are terrible. Facilities are very basic. No door on showers or toilets,no basins,no mirrors,no power sites, The place is very dry and many places with in the park are closed. Exorbitant prices. Diesel $2,50 lit. All meals $36. Park fee $25 per adult. $38 for bottle of Jacobs Creek.
This place is well over priced for what it offers

We enjoyed camping here. The park offers water, showers and toilets onsite at the homestead and you can have a fire. If you go off track to camp you can stop anywhere and need your own water and toileting.
The hosts are amazing.
The roads and mapping with advice make getting to the highlights like Nanny’s Retreat much easier.
The helicopter trip may sound expensive but it was awesome.
We had three nights but three weeks would be good too. Next time.

Lorella Springs Wilderness Park is exactly what it says, untamed terrain with spectacular gorges, hot springs, caves, fishing, beaches, paintings, wildlife etc. You could stay near the campground/homestead with toilets etc or venture out as far as you like!
We prepared for this trip appropriately with regards to vehicle setup, fuel, water, camping supplies and drove from Darwin via Cape Crawford (heartbreak hotel) and had no issues with the roads.
Such an awesome getaway and we will definitely will be back earlier in the year to check out the waterfalls we missed. I hope it stays the way it is!
P.S. we also did the Helicopter flight with Nick the pilot and it should 100% be on everyone's list as a must do, cannot speak highly enough about Nicks skills and knowledge of the area!

We are a couple who love to explore, are self sufficient and try our hardest to free camp away from everyone.

This place really has it all. Yes some have complained about the price in exchange for what you get but honestly this country is becoming so restrictive on where you can and can’t go and here you have a land owner saying go explore my place as much as you want!

We had such a great adventure. Take time to chat to the owner and get advice on where to go before you head out so you are not disappointed if it’s dry in certain areas and know that the road conditions are not perfect. It certainly was a bumpy ride to mini ayers rock! But this is the fun of it all. Exploring areas with no one around, taking dips in hot springs, climbing rocks and especially relaxing in the stunning camps along the rivers.

My only regret is not having time to explore it all! We will be back one day. Thank you to the people at the homestead for welcoming us and putting a system in place so you know you’ll get found if you get stuck somewhere! Comforting in such a vast area.

We visited 6 years ago and said we need to come back. Finally came back for a week. It is fantastic. We covered heaps of the station and went out to the coast for a few nights. Guess what even a bit of phone signal out there. Amazing. The best thing is, this family give you heaps of information but let you go and explore yourselves. Definitely a cheap week if you are just camping. You get a good shower and so much area to have fun in. Nanny's retreat still special. But did all the other water holes too. Well done Walker family we will be back one day.
