Stopped off for breakfast en route to the Park today. A friendly welcome, comfortable seating and a very decent menu, especially for us vegetarians. We had the halloumi and pesto on toast and a couple of massive mugs of excellent coffee. A little pricey and music in the common area was a little unnecessary so 1 mark off for that; otherwise, top marks!

We visited the newly renovated Little Ripper restaurant during our trip around the Northern Territory.

We had a fantastic meal, plus great service from the owners and their staff.

I would definitely recommend a visit. First class.

The housekeeping service and hospitality were very poor. When we arrived the room was locked from the inside and I had to return to Reception, where I was given a key to the back door. When We finally got into the room we were unable to put the freezer blocks for vital medicine into the freezer because it was packed solid with frost. I had to drag the fridge outside and hose it. When I complained to the manager the thought I was being unreasonable.
The housekeeping and hospitality are important aspects of running a motel, but this place obviously doesn't work that way.
My advice is to avoid this place.

This is a Motel that is doing its best to stay current and as such has had some renovations. Considering the location of this quaint little town, much can be said for the effort that has been put in by the owner/s and staff. So here is a very honest review. The Motel itself does not look THAT amazing from the outside when you approach it, there is a fuel station adjacent and a couple of sign boards that points you in the right direction(s), but I must admit it was well presented on the inside. Clean, renovated and inviting. There is a bottle store that forms part of the open-plan interior which consist of the reception/bar/bottle store/restaurant counter. . The bottle store is well stocked and will cater for all you alcohol needs. The food that I had (pork ribs) was well seasoned and well cooked and hit the spot Food ordered by other patrons looked appetising and well presented. Furniture in the dining room is a bit dated and ordinary, but this is not a place trying to pretend it is a 5-star motel. The staff was friendly, attentive and service was fast. Maybe a "how is your food?" 5 minutes into the meal can be thrown in as part of the "after-sale" service.
The ground-floor room that I was put in was spacious with a big-enough wall mounted TV, a kettle some coffee and tea-bags was available and some milk capsules in the cold bar-fridge will cater for your immediate hot beverage requirements. The room furniture, bedspread and curtains were dated with the bathroom consisting of a single basin, toilet and a shower with horrible curtain rails and clingy plastic shower-curtains . The shower-head (that needs de-calcifying) kept on falling down and after some effort I could tighten the screw enough to keep it in place. There were 2 double beds, with clean linen and fresh pillows, and my pet hate, beds on wheels that slid around like a hot penny on a slab of ice and my pillow kept falling down in between the wall-mounted headboard and the every moving bed. The air conditioner was working great, smelled clean and the over-head fan was effective and quiet. Maybe some bedside lamps will work better than the florescent lights that are the only options in the room and bathroom. WiFi was free and no complaint as to the speed and reception. The outside of the motel was cluttered with old and broken furniture, fridges and signs and could do with a clean-up. There is an inviting looking pool outside the big sliding doors of the room, surrounded by nice lawn, and will ensure that you cool down in the heat. Will i stay there again? Yes. Was it acceptable? Yes. Can they do better in some areas? Yes.

We visited Batchelor after a day sightseeing in the national park. It was getting late and we were ready for a shower and some good food.
Unfortunately our original accommodation was closed (booking tool mix up) and we happened upon the local tavern to ask for some help.
The nice and very friendly folks at the rum jungle tavern also own this motel and were good enough to open up 2 rooms for us.
They had everything we needed for a shower and a good nights rest. They’re not 5 star, but are thoughtfully for a family visit, with very friendly staff and an excellent location for exploring the top end and Litchfield area.
