We stayed in villa #8 for 6 nights last week. On the positive side the property is in a nice location, just up the hill from the main part of the village so not too busy but easy walk to everything including beaches, tavernas and shops. The property is clearly well looked after in the main areas including pool (which was large and great for the kids) and gardens and the villas are decent size for a family. We watched the sunset a few times from the rooftop balcony which is a nice touch on the villas. We really enjoyed the village of Makry Gialos and had lots of nice meals at tavernas along the beach and the sea was really temperate for swimming in late October. We also enjoyed driving up to the Pipperia (Pepper Tree) in a village in the hills and a day trip over to Sitia.
However, the down side to the property is that the villas which back onto the main road, such as #8 get the brunt of the traffic noise, including the master bedroom which is on the main road side of the property. The traffic woke us up early on several mornings. The living room also suffers from traffic noise when the french doors are open. The second bedroom with two twin beds for the kids faces onto the common areas and pool so does not get the street noise. Villa #8 also could have used a bit of TLC - the decour and furnishings were sparse. Some basic kitchen items such as olive oil and a few spices would have been a nice touch for meals in. We were also very surprised to be told that hand soap in the bathrooms and toilet roll were not supplied by the owner except the small amounts which greeted us on arrival.
Overall we would recommend the villas and the Makry Gialos.
