My only complaint..and it is one I have seen online over and over...the hotel charged for a pillowcase they said was stained. There were 5 pillows; I used one. I did not eat nor drink in the room and did not wear make up that may have stained the pillowcase. The bedspread had cigarette burns (in a non smoking room). I believe this is a way of getting a few extra dollars for the hotel. At check in the receptionist said they charge for missing towels and sheets. I have seen online that extra charges have happened to several guests. The hotel was adamant about the charge.

Came to morganton to visit family. Saw this location had a pool and was willing to pay extra to stay at a hotel to use the pool. I guess telling the clerk we were glad they had a pool because we wanted to swim was the first unknown mistake we made. It was raining lightly at the time of check in. We checked in later in the day. We left and came back several times to the room to go get dinner, pick up stay over clothes for family. The parking lot was taken over by a group of alcohol etc party goers who played chicken with our new vehicle so we had to adjust our parking. The hotel room ac and refrigerator were not on. The room was terribly hot with the drizzly rain outside made us leave too so we turned the ac on refrig on left to go to the store. I was up at 4am. Between 5am 6am pool gal was vacuuming pool. At 8am i inquired to use the pool. Was told 10am. The pool hours are posted as 930am to 10 or 11pm. At 1030am the pool was still closed. I inquired again what time i could use the pool and was told 10 minutes. A knock on our door as we gathered our belongings to go down to the pool. Alex wanted to know if we were leaving we stated we were leaving and he was unbelievably rude stating we had 5 minutes to leave or he would be charging us for another day. This rudeness upset my family and me. We took a towel to the pool to use for the kids and Alex again yelled at us my grandsons to get out of the pool stating if we wanted to use the pool we had to pay for another stay. He demanded the towel back and my family member brought it upstsirs to Alex so he would stop yelling at my grandsons who were swimming in the pool. After being yelled at continuously i went to speak with the clerk at the counter about the situation and she was so rude as well. Ive never ever had such a horrible stay anywhere ever. I forgot to give the room keys back and ended up back in the office to turn them in and stood there for over a half an hour with dripping wet grandsons in tow. When the clerk finally got to us she said she would make a note on the account for the general manager and gave us the general managers contact information which when we called it rang to this same clerk. I proceeded to generate complaints with Choice Hotels after a so called very dismissive unprofessional email exchange with someone claiming to be a general manager. We wanted to stay at this hotel to use the pool. This is what was the reason to stay at this hotel and why we paid over $130 for the night. But it appears we were not wanted on the property by the party goers and then Alex because i had been inquiring to use the pool. They were great taking our money for the stay, great for discriminating against us, great for making us feel unwelcomed, and great at dismissing any inquiries complaints and us altogether. At the end of us holding our wits together and them not..we were told by the general manager he didnt want us on the property due to our seeking a resolution to the terrible stay. I wouldnt recommend this location for females or females with children or to anyone looking for a normal decent professional stay. This was horrible all around. And no the refrig did not work as it did not frigerate the one tiny gatorade bottle that was put in it.

The check-in and check-out was very easy. We asked the young man at the front desk where he would recommend us to have supper and he said Abelle’s Family Buffet (don’t know if the spelling is correct). It was very delicious with a lot to choose from.
We then returned to the hotel to swim in the large outdoor pool, but a thunderstorm hit and I only got to swim one lap. It is a very nice pool.
There is no elevator, but we survived dragging our luggage up to the 2nd floor.
The breakfast was a typical Choice Hotel breakfast…scrambled eggs, sausage, make your own waffles, etc.
Over all it was a pleasant stay and we would stay again if we are in the area!
