Everything was great about the house, the property and the area. I had everything I needed in the kitchen, and towels and linens were provided. It is clean and very nicely decorated -- the owners have good taste! There were a lot of little amenities that you'd probably not find anywhere else, like lavender pillow spray, a TV in every bedroom, and a deep bathtub for long, soothing soaks. The bathroom was stocked with cotton balls and q-tips, even. Outside, there's a covered back porch with a nice grill. Below the porch is a little area with sand, a hammock and a fire pit. It's kinda like having a private beach! It has three very pretty and well-manicured acres, which allowed plenty of room for our dogs to run. We sat out at the other fire pit down by Broad Creek several times, and they provided wood! It was nice being right on the creek. We took several kayak rides, and Broad Creek is beautiful! People who like to fish will enjoy the Oriental town dock, where my husband and son caught lots of fish -- including about a dozen keeper sea trout! We also caught enough blue crabs for steamers and crab cakes! There is a little beach in Oriental where my daughter and I swam. The water was super warm, and we had it all to ourselves! Oriental is so quiet. There is a place to buy fresh seafood, though, and we found nice restaurants nearby and in other towns. The Silos was interesting and had very good food -- I thought the pizza was delicious. The grocery store is about 15 minutes away -- not bad at all. We liked going to Aurora, where we visited the fossil museum and dug for shark teeth in a pile of dirt from the huge phosphate mine nearby. I have a Megaladon tooth and a great white shark tooth I'll make into jewelry. Kids would really enjoy that. We definitely recommend this vacation home as a great place to unplug and have fun!
