At an elevation of 5,946 feet, Grandfather is recognized as one of the world’s most diverse nature preserves. Be exhilarated by the altitude and panoramic views from the Mile High Swinging Bridge; stand eye-to-eye with bears, cougars and otters in natural habitats. Dine in the restaurant or find a scenic picnic spot, browse the nature museum, wander the trails, go behind the scenes of the animal habitats, visit with knowledgeable naturalists, and stop for a treat at the fudge shop. “Breath taking”
Reviewed 2 February 2012

It was nice to visit the fudge shop, see the animals, and it was windy so we even got to hear the bridge sing!

“Trip Was a Couple of Years Back”
Reviewed 1 February 2012

In summer months if you are within reach of this mountain, it's worth the windy road to get there. Granted, they don't have control over the road but if you're prone to car sickness, grab something for that first. The view is worth the drive, and grab up your big-girl britches and take a walk across a mile-high swinging bridge. The photo to the left looks like the bridge... maybe. Last time I was there we enjoyed watching some of the bears and other wildlife in the habitat areas. Chill out, get high on the mountain naturally. Breathe real air.

“Miles and miles of trails”
Reviewed 19 January 2012

Once youve done the typical tourist part, swinging bridge, animal sanctuary, museum, gift shop etc, check out the numerous hiking trails that offer plant life that is unique only to this area.
