“Excellent property, great for truly relaxing.”
Reviewed 7 July 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Burghead holds great childhood memories for my sister & I and we enjoyed introducing the Moray coast to our husbands. The Bessie is a very well appointed apartment in an excellent position and is a great base for visiting the surrounding towns & villages. We walked the dogs on the beach every morning, they loved it, and explored different places every afternoon. We loved watching the seals playing in the harbour and even managed to catch sight of a few Dolphins off the headland. The Bothy serves very good cakes & coffee and, although we didn't manage to eat there, has a great menu. I have recommended this apartment to several people already and would return to Burghead again but next time we might just take the whole family and book the owners bigger cottage The Millie.

“We loved it!”

As described in all other reviews, we just loved the place. The location with all it wonderful surroundings, as well as the classy interior - pure Luxury! We also loved that at arrival we received a welcome package containing Wine, Butter, Coffee, Juice, Cheese, Bread to get us started. Very attentional.
At first we had trouble using the master bathroom's shower as it had clogged up and there was no hot water. After calling the owner Ruth, the plumber came by the next morning and luckily fixed it. It took me some time to understand how the heating system and hot water works (I think it is time programmed). I suggest that instructions be provided at arrival, so one can enjoy this lovely house and not feel cold at any time. Linens, Dishwasher, Washer, Pot and Pens, Coffee-maker, etc.. - everything needed is provided. Wi-fi didn't work at all times which was a pity, but we will definitely come back. I also recommend the Boothy Restaurant as the food there is just delicious!

“Everything you need for a perfect holiday!”

Our Party Consisted Of 5 Adults All From The Same Family And We Were In The Area Visiting Other Family Living Close By And Also To Enjoy A Well Earned Break.
The Acommodation Was Clean And Tidy And Tastefully Decorated.A Welcome Pack Of Groceries Provided By The Owner On Day 1 Was Very Much Appreciated.
This Is A Great Place To Get Away From It All,Enjoy The Coast And All It Has To Offer. The Constant Harbour Activity With Fishing Boats And The Rowing Club Added To The Ambience Of The Place.
We Found The Scottish People Very Friendly And Welcoming..
Burghead Itself Has Basic Shops Including A General Store /Post Office,A Co-op Convenience Shop With Free ATM,A Ladies Hairdresser A Pharmacy And Of Course The “BOTHY” Bistro.
The Location Of The Village Makes It Easy To Get Around The Area-We Recommend Lossiemouth For Its Beaches-West For Long Walks And The Beach Bar Close By For Its Lovely Food.
East Beach Is Better For Families With A Few Shops And The 1629 Bar/Bistro/Restaurant A Particular Favourite.
For Retail Therapy And Supermarkets, Elgin Is About 6 Miles Away Eastwards, Additionally With A Good Selection Of Places To Eat And Then There Is Inverness About 35 Miles In The Other Direction A Much Larger Town Altogether.
All In All This Apartment Is More Than Adequate For A Holiday For Those Requiring Peace And Quiet Yet With Plenty To Do Within Easy Reach.

“It was lovely! Cold, but lovely.”
Reviewed 26 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

As others have mentioned, the Bessie is in a lovely spot for so many reasons, the long sandy beach, the harbor, the old Pictish site, the cliffs, the birds, the dolphins...and it has been lovingly and beautifully restored. The night we arrived was particularly cold and we weren't able to get the hot water going until the following day, so you may want to sort that out on arrival. Also, the Bothy looked like a great place to eat, book early as it fills up for the evening meals (which I think are only served on the weekends).
