This is an older property, family cared for, and has the most amazing location on the beach!!! Thats why we come!! We prefer 2nd floor ocean front efficiency. There are NO dunes or steps to climb on the 1st floor!! and you will still have an ocean view!! Our unit was very clean, with no odors that some of the older--or even newer beach fronts can have.. I love to surf fish, and find it amazing that from jumping out of bed, I can be fishing that surf trough in literally 5 minutes! The kitchen,(full sized appliances) is sometimes sparsely stocked, so if you love to do your own cooking, I suggest you bring a few of your fav items from home. We had enough to make do, and I'm sure they will supply you with whatever you need from the office. We find them to be quite welcoming, and great to work with. If you need NEW carpet, and upscale furnishings, this is NOT your place. Go elsewhere, and pay 5 times more than we did,but you will miss the most AMAZING beachfront view and experience on the OBX!

Room tip: Get ocean front!! We prefer 2nd floor.

Thank you for staying with us! We always welcome guest feedback. As you mentioned, guests can get additional kitchenware from the front desk. In the past guests have requested things like muffin tins, cake pans and large pots to cook local seafood and we have been able to accommodate them. We also have grill utensils that guests can use with our charcoal grills. Hope you come visit with us again soon.

It maybe dated as others have said but is clean and the staff are wonderful and friendly. They are helpful if you have a question or need assistance. If you have any maintenance issues the maintenance staff will take care of it right away. The oceanfront rooms are spacious with a full-size kitchen. Great views of the ocean from the oceanfront rooms. Love the rocking chairs at the oceanfront rooms. Has a great pool and deck. Have been staying here for several years now and will continue staying here.

OK this is not the Holiday Inn Express folks. This is an older Lodge that has been kept up but not in a Luxury sense; in other words if you're driving a BMW or a Esplanade, move along. But if you are looking for a nice place for a large or multiple families, clean with comfortable beds and all the basics, then this is it. The price is a third to half of most of the OBX lodging and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. And if you spring for the Ocean view suites you get a BIG room with a kitchen and room to stretch. A porch to view the ocean and sunrises and direct beach access.

And about OBX beaches... This ain't Honolulu.. OBX sand is sit and view the waves and pelicans beach; cold and full of riptides. my geologist wife loved it but your Teens might not.

Conclusion: OBML Is a love/hate place. love it for it's price/charm/location/convenience or hate it's dated look and lack of luxury. I'll take the former.

Room tip: Beachfronts are a bargain, but not a bad room in the place. Very wheelchair friendly. Ask for Linda, she's terrific.

What a charming little Motor Lodge with a rustic feel. My husband went to OBX for a few days of R & R. I choose this place due to the other reviews. I was not disappointed with my expectations. If you are looking for a Hilton, this in not the place for you. But if you are looking for a comfortable, spacious, mini suite room. They have what you need. The poo; was perfect and just a hop skip and a jump to the ocean. Parking was the best right outside your room. Everyone was friendly. Can't wait to stay here again. Only downfall, is we did not stay long enough.

We were looking to stay for 1 more night and found this little gem! Had a room just for the 2 of us available! Hotel needs updates, but for the price and being on the beach, it is very much worth it. Front desk staff very friendly! Would stay again!

Room tip: Ocean Front rooms available
