Food was southern fried and delicious! I had the Trout and clam strips. Yum! Homemade pies for dessert, what a treat. A must to stop here if you are in the area!!

Come on in and get the legendary delicious fried fish, stewed potatoes, rock stew and fixings!! This is a trip to the past and a great treasure of the simple life in a fish shack down by the river. You can't leave after finishing that delicious meal without a slice of their wonderful homemade pies!! Lemon is my favorite, but the chocolate is a close second and pecan ain't that far behind. Love this place! Only open now through April, so come on!! :-)

They Cypress Grill is only open January - April each year, and it's a great place to go for retirees looking for a fun day trip. While there, we met interesting people from lots of different places and very much enjoyed talking to them. The restaurant was full, with a line out the door before noon.

As others have said, the setting is beautiful, right on the banks of the Roanoke River. You have to trust your GPS to get you there, or you would think that you were driving down a path into the river, as you can't see the restaurant from the street.

The food was really good. The flounder was delicious, the slaw and stewed potatoes were very good, and the chocolate pie was outstanding! However, I do think the hush puppies were a little dry.

Now, for the real reason to go to the Cypress Grill: Herring. It was our first time trying herring, so it was a new experience. We had it "fried hard", and it was good, so I'm sure we will be back next year!

Please make a trip down to Jamesville! The people are friendly, the service is great, the food is delicious, and the setting is just lovely!

This place is a great example of where the term "fish camp" came from. Building is slanted and seems like little has changed over the years except the patrons.

Food was a little dissapointing. Tasted good at first but everyone in our party paid for the next 24 hours. Maybe it was the oil from the fryers as this was the last day of the season.

I would go back but only for the pie and the atmosphere.
