It's hard finding a one-night-stay in the Highlands, but we decided to try Skyline Lodge, even with mixed reviews. It certainly had outdated architecture; however, there was a clean coat of paint and it had well maintained out dated architecture ... we could live with that. Then came the surprise ... Altitudes ... a quaint little restaurant literally 20 yards from our room with linen table clothes and a chef that should be known be all. The menu was well priced, maybe even a bit under priced for the quality and palate pleasing entrees and appetizers. The lobster, shrimp and scallops over risotto should be on more menus. The prime rib was superbly cooked and the escargot was served with a wonderful twist and gravy you just had to sop up with some bread. Do not let the out date averse folks tell you not to worry with Skyline's accommodations and above all try Altitudes for a wonderful meal with a fantastic atmosphere ... you will go back for more !
