We stayed in the camp site in a tent rather than in a room. The bathroom/shower facilities were large and clean, and the campsite itself was nice. But the man behind the desk impressed us most, being extremely courteous as well as going out of his way to make sure we were comfortable, fed and happy.

not so much due to the hotel but rather the owner !
It's really easy to find as stated by othere reviewers, the views over the little lake in front is stunning. We got there just in time to still climb the hill behind and get our good a chance to pick up some delicious crowberries (=similar to blueberries). Our room was very clean, not the most modern furniture but everything you need. Love to stay in the little cottages behind the hotel the next time. What really made our stay was the very interesting discussion with the owner, who not only has interesting stories to tell but also is a singer and kindly offered us a CD ... beautiful songs, we'll keep track of him !!!

Easy to find, standing alone on road 60 at the start of the south Westfjords, and 10 mins from the 61 junction for the north Westfjords.
The bright room with 3 windows and the bathroom were a good size (there are also much cheaper small twin rooms with shared facilities).
Outside was a narrow fenced grass area with tables to enjoy a drink in the sun looking at the lake over the road and parking.
There is an open plan bar / large lounge / dining area where various fast foods are available. The evening menu was good and we had the 'catch of the day' - a big frying pan of cod and monkfish brought to the table, huge portions, really enjoyed it.
The continental breakfast was ok but a bit limited in choice, and the fruit juices were watery.
A downside is that the extensive parking area can look a bit of a 'truck stop' with 4x4s, superjeeps, and vans.

The hotel has a charming, old fashioned atmosphere, looks like there are only a few tourists passing by and most of the guests are icelandic people travelling for work.the rest room is cosy,wi fi works quite well also in rooms.
Our en suite room was clean and comfortable.
Most important, the food we had for dinner (one catch of the day and one vegetarian course) was excellent, surely the best we had during our holiday!

It could be because of its remote location, but we had the impression not many tourists got to these parts. The hotel seems to be run by a mother/son team who were very kind but not incredibly knowledgeable about the area's attractions (they really weren't able to provide any guidance at all with regard to local attractions). They told us it would be less than 3 hours drive to the cliffs, and it took us well over 7 hours. There was no wifi available on the premises during our stay. There was only one other couple staying in the hotel and they were also staying in the new suites (which were quite nice and had great black out shades) but for whatever reason, they gave both of us rooms with the view of the parking lot while the room with the lake view stood empty. Seemed odd. To get to our en suite rooms, we walked past the smaller rooms with the shared bathroom. The overall feel of this place - except our rooms - was kinda like a truck stop and kinda of like your grandmother's house. They had all types of snacks and supplies (like a truck stop) and the living room was like the family room of a home - with dated furniture and black and white family portraits decorating the wall. The location is very isolated so its best to get in late, leave early.
