“Spectacular Family Find”

We came down with several friends and family to stay here and this home exceeded our expectations. The views from the deck are simply breathtaking!!!!

The home and location are ideal for young families. Having the pool for young kids was extremely family-friendly, or you could walk a few steps to the beach - great for those oh so frequent kid needs to go back and forth without packing up and unpacking on the beach. The homeowners clearly care about renters with families as the high chair and pack and play were wonderful additions to not have to lug down from home!

Additionally, the house is tucked away on a quiet street but with great proximity to nearby shopping for grocery and Tim Buck II. A nice walk or a quick drive depending on how long you want to be :)

The house layout is great with the reverse living floor plan and causes no worry for those up late enjoying themselves without waking the kids up! There is plenty of seating area for large groups which is nice and open and cozy to watch a movie or play a rowdy board game.

The kitchen is well laid out for gather and prepping for large meals and has every tool and food lover could want in their meal prep! The layout makes traffic flow easy in the kitchen and the dual dishwasher are a great blessing for those large meals and clean up!

The blackout shades are lovely for those rainy days or days you just want to sleep in. One of the first homes in the OBX I have had that thought to have them to let their renters sleep in if they so choose!

The best kept secret in the house is the second level deck, perfect for a little kid picnic coming up from the beach or pool set in the shade, but with lovely views, or an afternoon nap/swing in the hammock.

I highly recommend this home and am excited to rent it again, and will be returning with my family and recommending it to all our friends who make the trek from New Jersey to the peaceful Outer Banks.

Loved this house! The views were incredible! The house spacious beyond our expectations.
More fun than expected due to the volleyboard court and pool table.
Convenient to everything ,restaurants , shopping and paddleboarding in the bay.
top floor was awesome! We watched a 360 degree view of a thunderstorm, which was awesome. Great memories here!

“Our favorite place to stay in NC”

My wife & I have stayed at this house five times now, four times before 2011 and again for the fifth time just last week, and we have enjoyed it each and every time. We noted no real deterioration of the property and in fact did note that there were several new additions such as outdoor furniture and a newly laid top deck and roof. We have always found the house to be clean upon our arrival despite knowing that it has been only hours since the last party to occupy the house had only left hours before.
The rooms are plentiful and comfortably furnished, and plenty of bathrooms. There is a hot tub which honestly is not something that we gravitate to, but the pool is nicely laid out and relatively set to afford privacy, which I see somewhat lacking at other neighboring houses. What we especially love about the house is not only its very close proximity to the beach (the access literally just across the road), but also to shopping, restaurants and tourist interests (all beginning about a mile away).

One big thing was that there appeared to have been a recent fire across the street that took out two homes which resulted in two things: 1st, because of the winds that normally accompany any beach front area, there was some occasional drifting of fine material that did settle into the pool area, but this did not detract from the use of the pool in the slightest which was more than likely due to the stepped up maintenance by the pool 'dude'. It is just something that you can only keep after as best you can, and that seemed to be the case here. The 2nd affect created by the fire was that it left a MAGNIFICENT view of the ocean. I know this sounds crass, but hey, it is what it is.

We love this place and would not hesitate a second staying there again.

Spent most of the first day cleaning the house.Cleaning people did a poor job at best.Pool was dirty upon check in.Pool light and lights in pool area did not work.Furniture in house is old and deck furniture is broken and in poor condition.Outside of house is full of spider webs and bugs.Yard needs a good clean up as well.Outside shower by pool is disgusting and looks like it has not been cleaned ever.I am a Realtor and would never rent a house to anyone in this condition until the many items are attended to.

Management Response

We are very sorry that the house did not meet this guests expectations. We try very hard to exceed the expectations of all of our guests, so this review is very concerning for me. To address the concerns below: We gave this guest a complimentary early check in because the house was ready early. The pool was cleaned for this guest later in the afternoon by the pool vendor. I personally inspected this house before the guest checked in and found it to be very clean. I am not sure what could have still needed to be cleaned, but had the guest let us know what wasn’t right, I would have gladly sent a cleaner or gone myself to assure that everything was cleaned to their satisfaction. Especially with an early check in, this would have been easy for us to accomplish. I hate the thought of anyone cleaning a house when they arrive and would have done anything possible so that this guest did not have to do this. The guest called us on Monday to report that the pool lights weren’t working. The pool company went that day to address the problem. They found the breaker to be tripped for the lighting on the pool deck and re-set it. The pool lights worked fine after that. On turn-over we do brush down spider webs, etc. from the outside of the house, but spiders tend to be very quick and tenacious with their rebuilding of webs. The outside shower is cleaned out each week. The bottom of the shower is deck boards, and could probably stand to be power washed. The owners will power wash the house this winter, and we will be sure to include the deck boards in the shower when that is done. The owners are constantly replacing and upgrading furniture – this is an ongoing process with a rental house. They just bought 2 new polywood captain chairs and a great octagon polywood table (seats 8) for the top deck. They plan on upgrading / replacing more this winter as well as some of the furniture in the house. Again, I am so sorry that this house fell short of the guests expectations. We are always available to help guests with anything that they need when on vacation. Leslie
