peaceful and private

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 10 Apr 2024
Apartment back and front on the living room level. Private Courtyard off master bed on ground level allowing natural night air to aid a good nights sleep. Beach across the road with the cape to cape walking trail on its doorstep allowing a taste of the walk or for more serious hikers to step out a longer leg. A decent walk through the bush could be rewarded with a beverage at Caves house but wouldn't recommend doing that at night.
overall we had a really nice stay and Denise and Regina were most helpful.

Thank you for your wonderful review of Smiths Beach Resort. Our 1-bedroom Apartments were recently renovated, and their split-level design creates a quiet atmosphere for peaceful rest. You arrived at the perfect time to enjoy some beautiful hikes on the Cape-to-Cape Track and great to hear you made the most of our close location to it. The Autumn weather of clear skies and moderate temperatures make hiking very appealing to our guests this time of year. We will pass on your compliments to Denise and Regina and hope to see you back at Smiths Beach soon!

The best resort for a luxury get-away anywhere in the south-west of WA. We are locals & we decided to holiday at home. You can't beat our world class beaches & the attractions the region offers. Wineries, restaurants, mazes! A world class resort with Lamonts restaurant right on your doorstep. Would love to come back next year.

Hi Mark, great to hear you and your family enjoyed a fantastic holiday in your own backyard. Our location in the heart of the region makes it ideal to access Caves Road and all the wineries and sights. We agree with you that having Lamont’s Restaurant onsite makes for an easy (and delicious) holiday and a welcome break from home life. We hope to see you all next year.

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend staying in a surprisingly spacious one bedroom apartment. Although the apartments are all positioned very close to one another, the design is so spot on that we didn’t hear any noise from other guests / neighbours or staff all during our stay - and we are light sleepers! Our apartment was the closest apartment to not only Lamont’s Restaurant but the gate for pedestrians entering the premises and exit gate for cars - and we didn’t hear a thing! The only thing I’d recommend is to bring your own pillows if you prefer a medium or hard pillow as there are unfortunately no alternatives to their super soft pillows. We also had an unexpected but beautiful view of the beach through our kitchen windows which the dining table looked out of. Location is brilliant - Smiths Beach is one of my favourite beaches in the world.

Fantastic resort. We had a beach house and could not fault the accomodation. Lots of space for all and a very good payout. Location was perfect - amazing beach across the road and very close to the town and numerous vine yards.

Would also highly recommend the Nocturnal Nature walk and the Fishing Experience with Gene.

We stayed in one of the beach shacks. It met our expectations in everyway because we wanted the convenience of a reasonably priced room that had catering facilities as we were touring WA and had a lot of hotel restaurant meals in the cities. The area is fairly remote, there are no cafes or restaurants in safe walking distance. However the beach was lovely and it was good to have use of the heated pool. The receptionist was very helpful on arrival and all of the facilities in the shack were to a good standard. Comfy beds and well equipped kitchen. We did not use the restaurant. It is true that the shacks are close together but we did not feel overlooked the way that the drives are positioned.

Room tip: The pool is heated so great for a dip at the end of the day

It was a long weekend so of course accomodation is in high demand and stayed here as their terms for cancellation should the need arise were what I was looking for in that regard.

The beach shack is in a cluster far away from the pool and is somewhat high density so you are close to others. The units themselves are pretty well fitted out with aircon in all rooms with one tv in the lounge with a decent selection of channels.

The internet and Telstra mobile coverage isn’t fantastic but it’s useable to a degree.

Smiths Beach is a nice beach and kids has fun building sandcastles etc

Lady on reception was amazing when checking in :)

Beds, bedding, pillows etc all very comfortable and warm for the colder nights. The shacks have outdoor showers which can be useful when coming back from the beach which is about a 5 min stroll (maybe slightly less) on a boardwalk to the main beach which also looked to have life guards on the weekend (don’t know if that’s a regular thing or just for the long weekend but felt more comfortable with kids in the water with them around).

Anyway it’s nice accomodation and usual supply and demand for regional wa, maybe better value off peak but overall was a fine experience.

Room tip: Beach shacks are condensed next to each other, thin walls and noise travels so you may get caught with noisy neighbours up till late.

Hi David

We are so pleased to hear that our Flexible Rate suited your travel plans and enabled you to have a great stay at Smiths Beach Resort. Our Beach Shacks are very popular with families over the summer holidays and the outdoor showers are essential after a big day building sandcastles on the beach. I will pass your complements onto our reception team.
The fantastic volunteer surf life savers man the beach during the summer months and are very grateful for all the work they do. We hope to welcome you back to Smiths Beach again soon.
