I love animals and nature but found the price of getting there, $206 for 2 adults, coming by Ferry from Perth dear. Yes, the quokka's are adorable, and the island lovely, but I had a better time walking on the beach at Cottesloe. That said, if you're into snorkelling or diving, we're not, then you'd probably get more out of it. Make sure you go on a nice day as otherwise you're likely to be sorely disappointed. Make sure you bring bottled water and food as there's little on offer and what is in on offer is overpriced as you're captive. I was happy to learn that some of the hefty price tag for the ferry goes to conservation, nonetheless I think $103pp too dear, and don't forget another $20pp for the hop on/hop off bus, or $30pp to rent a bicycle. All said, they say it's the things in life you don't do that you regret, more than those you do, so if you can afford it, give it go. If you're on a tight budget, don't, talk a walk on some of the many amazing beaches!

We had a great trip to Rottnest. It was lovely to see the Quokkas. They are very sweet and very friendly.

The island itself is very interesting and easy to get around with the local bus.

We were only there for about 4 hours which felt a bit rushed, and would ideally have been for longer.

The quokkas are on everyone's agenda (it was definitely on mine!) but do make sure of the free walking tours that are available. Great way to learn about the island and its wildlife. We found the guides very knowledgeable and we thoroughly enjoyed the tours.

There's a lot of behind the scenes logistics at Rotto and the whole team, whether in the Visitor Centre, doing the luggage rounds, changing gas bottles over, emptying bins, doing bus runs or being a jolly ranger do so with such friendly good grace it is a pleasure to be looked after by them. Good work peoples!!
