We arrived in the dark after a long drive from Perth airport aggravated by a traffic accident near Cervantes which delayed the journey by 2 hours. The property is really poorly lit and you couldn't even see the signage outside the property even when the GPS says you have arrived. This is the first time I have encountered "self-catering" means truly you dont see anyone on site throughout your stay and you are expected to clean everything yourself ( signs everywhere of heavy penalties if you don't clean up or do as told). Getting into the property in the dark was a stressful experience as first you have to find the letter that is left outside the closed office with the pin code to the lock box outside your "villa" which you had great difficulty finding in the dark because there is hardly any lighting.
There is no dryer, just a washing machine but they do provide clothes pegs and a drying rack outside. The patio is in front of house so anyone walking along the main road sees you, so no privacy at all.Really, really dated and my first impression is "what a dump" when I finally entered through this very old kitchen that looks like its been fitted out in the 70s.Its so basic that the shower with a curtain looks like something in a hostel. I would not recommend to anyone and at this price point, would expect something a little more decent. But I guess Kalbarrie is peak season in July and there aren't many choices. Its selling point is its location just across the river and it is near to shops and water activities. Really disappointing stay.
