The Potshot Resort, in fact during the check-in process we were given a unit in Osprey Holiday Village, was a great choice for exploring the Cape Range National Park, with obvious emphasis on its wonderful beaches...
Our unit was big enought for my party of 6, it was very well decorated and had a kitchen and BBK facilities more than enough for everyone.
A place to highlight in this area of Western Australia.

Given some of the other reviews for this 'resort', I was expecting worse than we got. The room itself was clean and perfectly reasonable. I wish that motels in the tropics would provide balconies or somewhere to sit outside and this one didn't. There were also no laundry or breakfast facilities.

We were quite pleasantly surprised by this property. Booking at the last minute only a standard room was available, we didn't expect too much so a clean relatively modern room with a double and single bedding was a welcome surprise. The property has two pools, it's own bistro with a dining option by the pool and plenty of parking. Whilst the walls were quite thin and we could hear our neighbours shower every morning we were lucky enough to be on the end of a block of 5 rooms with only the one room next to ours so this didn't bother us at all. A word of warning, do not expect your room to be serviced, we had a 4 day stay and our room wasn't serviced once. We had to empty the bins ourselves and if we wanted fresh shower or pool towels we had to ask reception and whilst this was no problem they were not always available. The location of this property is on the main road, only one street away (a short walk) from the main shopping centre where there is an IGA, bakery, restaurants, newsagent, chemist etc.
All whale shark tours pick up from this hotel. There are no cooking fascilities in the room but there is a jug and mini fridge. All in all, the rooms are simple, clean, comfortable and affordable.

Room tip: If planning a trip to Exmouth during the peak whale shark season book well in advance.

No other accommodation available in town when I booked two king rooms at the Pot Shot. I thought it would be average but it exceeded my expectation. At a minimum I expected the accommodation to be clean. I was shocked it was dirty, windows covered in grim that you could not see through, stained bedding, smelly towels, mould in the shower and cracked tiles. Not a pleasant experience, avoid if you can. At $255 a night per room it’s a huge rip off! On the plus side all staff we encountered were helpful and efficient. We had dinner on the deck near the pool and enjoyed our meal. Come on management surely you can do better.

We spent a night in one of the motel style rooms at the Potshot Resort recently. Whilst the room could probably do with updating (ie. a coat of paint, updated furnishings and a bathroom renovation), we were comfortable and found the resort to be very well equipped overall. It has a great bar/beer garden, restaurant and swimming pool and appears to have lots of accommodation options to suit different types of travellers. The staff were also friendly and helpful. Overall, a good place to spend a night or two.
