“Pleasant.Great service and a very pretty location”

The platter we chose was a great mix of their lovely produce. The wine we chose was a beautiful Lake House SSB. The service was terrific such happy, smiley staff. My only gripe was all the dead flys on the window sill next to where we were sitting.

“A Welcome Suprise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2012

A lunch with some girlfriends who had never visited the Lake house. I expected expense and uncomfortable hobnobbery, but upon arriving we were gladly suprised. The view is just beautiful. The decor is very smart, but comfortable. Immediately the shoes slid off as we watched the ducks outside and perused the menu of local wines and tasting platters. Our plan was just to share a simple platter or two, but after noticing the prices were much lower than expected we all decided on the Gourmet Platter which equated to less than $50.00aud each! And boy was that plate packed. A fantastic reason to sit back, relax and enjoy the Lake House's range of fine wines. The Restaurant was quite full and hot, we asked a very friendly waitress if there was air conditioning and she informed us unfortunately there was not but would arrange something for us. No more than 10 mins later we saw a couple leave an outside shaded table, the waitress immediately reset it and invited us to move!! How delightful and personal!
I recommend The Lake House to anybody for a lovely afternoon! Also a great range of gifts and condiments in the store so don't put the wallet away just yet!

“Pretty spot, platters uninspiring”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 February 2012

The Lake House has a very lovely garden which makes for a wonderful afternoon with friends. But the platters are overpriced and contain mostly their own produce (chutneys, relishes), a couple of types of cheese (not local), ham, and bread. We expected more variety, and better quality.

“Expensive food, very hot place”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 February 2012

My husband and I had lunch at Lake house a few days ago after 5 hours drive from Perth.

Although the staff were very friendly and helpful, the restaurant did not have any air conditioning and fan was not on or not working. It was very hot and humid weather and we could not even finish our lunch because of the unpleasant heat.

The menu is very limited and we ended up ordering one of the 2 non-vegetarian main dishes- which turned to be an on-tray and very expensive for the price we paid for.

I do not recommend this winery for lunch, unless they update their premises with more fans or air-conditioning, lower the prices and update + give more options on their restaurant menu.
