Very satisfied with Oceanside. As per the other comments, the decor is a little dated ('pipeline' bunks, metal couch etc), but was clean and had self contained kitchen. Good value for our family of 5 as we could cook our own meals. We had the villa at the back on the hill with a balcony and uninterrupted views of Shark Bay. Regarding someone elses comment about lugging your gear up the stairs - you can drive around the back and park right outside your front door. The pool is small, but fun enough for the kids, plus a ping pong table. As much as the Monkey Mia Dolphins are the draw card for this region, staying in Denham has many benefits. It is only a 15 min drive to the dolphins, which we did every morning except the one day we went south to Shell Beach & Nanga. To save $100/night over 4 nights was well worth a 15min drive every day, plus Denham is more 'central' to the other Shark Bay Attractions. We did the Stromatolites as we left on the last day as they are closer to the main highway. Monkey Mia Tip: If you have the time, spend a whole day relaxing at the beach, dolphins do often come back and the crowds get less as the day goes on. Rangers only feed Max of 3 times though before 12 noon & you have to be one of 'the chosen few' to be picked to feed the dolphins. We saw them 12 times and didn't get picked once, but still an awesome experience and lots of close up photos and video.

Room Tip: If you want great views, get the villas on the hill at the back

The complex faced the waterfront in Denham but was still 25 Km from Monkey Mia. The villas were clearly new and had all the essentials, microwave, utensils etc but it was noticeable that everything was the cheapest available. In a way this spoilt an otherwise well designed complex. The individual units were quiet, clean and well presented with one central bathroom, a double bed and two or three single beds. A small old fashioned TV was in keeping with the 'cheap' tenor of the fittings. A printed sheet outlining the owner's policy in regard to the need for 'excessive' cleaning ($80.00 per hour) left a sour taste when one realised they had taken a credit card swipe at check-in. Overall, an unsatisfying stay probably due to the owner's unappealing approach to his customers.

We had a deluxe 1 bedroom villa, it was classed a 3.5 star. The simple way to describe it is basic and dated. There is a combined lounge, dining and kitchen area. It has a small CRT television, table, chairs, ceiling fan and the air conditioning unit. The kitchen area has a full sized fridge, microwave, sink and a table top electric stove with utensils. There is a small bedroom with a ceiling fan – but it still feels like a sauna. The bathroom is also quite dated. Not one of the better ones. Probably better if you can get a 4 star instead.

First let me get the negatives out of the way: For us a seaview villa meant you can see a small amount of the sea from some parts of the villa through a narrow gap between other apartments. It’s not the sort of view where you can sit out in front of your villa and enjoy the view. Secondly, the pool can’t be more than 3m long and 2m wide. It was fine for swimming with our baby daughter, but for anyone desirous of a proper swim don’t get your hopes up.

Other than that the villa was spacious, well-equipped and generally very clean. We enjoyed our stay here and had everything we needed to self cater and stay cool in the harsh Australian summer. Would stay here again if had similar requirements. Denham doesn’t have much, but is close enough to Monkey Mia (what most people visiting Denham are probably here for). Having read the reviews for the Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort accommodation and seen the prices I feel we made a good decision.

We had put a preference of hillside of sea facing room but when we saw both locations we decided the sea view faced the main road (before you saw the sea) and the hillside would have been a challenge with all the gear we were carrying so we settled for a standard villa which was brilliant - the location was great but the management were outstanding! We had pre-booked a tour of Francois Peron national park but the operators let us down, so Johan Bakker, the Manager took it upon himself to find an alternative tour operator - not easy as we were not really in season - whilst we enjoyed the Monkey Mia resort he found another operator - Aussie Outback Tours who could do the identical tour on the next day - not only did he leave a precise note in our room he also contacted the original operator to get our refund.
Outstanding hospitality - thank you Johan!!
