Ok if you want five star accommodation then give this hotel a miss. However if you want value for money then this place is the way to go. After having to leave Vigo in a hurry after finding out some conference was in town and hotel prices were Euro 220 per night for dingy 2 Star hotels we decided to go to Pontevedra and try our luck there We got the best stories ever when we saw the one bedroom apartment which was clean and roomy. Hot water was good wifi worked and room was quiet giving us s great night sleep. The minor criticism was room smelt of smoke, TV had basic channels and the stream in front of hotel stank at low tidy. Again not your intercontinental hotel but for the price a great stay.

Having just completed a 3 week road trip through Spain this place was just right for us. The chap who signed us in was a real character. Having told us it was not possible to have any accommodation we then followed him to an apartimiento which was clean and tidy with aircon. I think it was the last one they had. The apartment itself although nicely laid out had no kitchen equipment (or very little) and our check-in manager was a complete stress monster in a very comedic manner. It was hilarious watching him explain in Spanish how we had to remove various knobs off the cooker and then fiddle around to get it working. In his demo he was then unable to switch the cooker off again, which stressed him even more!
Anyway, we were not planning to cook in our place, just use it as a base for exploring the area and sleeping. Perfect for us. I would recommend this place if you are not fussy about having everything work properly, one can even go just up the stairs to the top floor and enter straight into a nice relaxing tapas bar. Only downside I noticed there was that any member of the public can also enter the Hotel from the door at the very top from the nearby park, so security could be compromised potentially.

When in Spain, as most of us know, standards are not the same as the UK, so just enjoy and have fun.

Room Tip: Our room was at the end of a long corridor which was nice and quiet.

We had 3 nights at Dabarca Hotel and were happy with our stay here. The staff were friendly and happily added an extra bed to our friends' room at the last minute.
The rooms were very large and well equipped to cook our own meal one night. We also found them nice and clean.
Parking is free on the street but make sure you park on the quiet road out the front of reception and not the busy road up the top of the hotel - we did this the first night and found out car had been badly crashed into with no note of details.

The location is pretty good, just a short walk to the old town of Pontevedra which is lovely with lots of restaurants and squares scattered around.
Pontevedra itself is lovely. A very Spanish town with basically no English tourists anywhere. It is halfway between Santiago De Compostela and the nice beaches of the Galician coastline and much less touristy than Santiago De Compostela.

Pontevedra served as a great base for walking the Camino from Tui to Santiago de Compostela ( just 30 minutes away by train). Since the train line pretty much parallels the Portuguese Camino, we were able to stay in the same spot each night, commuting to our walks by train or taxi. While the Dabarca might not be quite as luxurious as some hotels, it was clean and neat and the price was VERY good; perfect for pilgrims. The train and bus stations were about 20 min by foot (or about 5 euros by taxi). With plenty of space in our suite to lounge, good wifi and our own washing machine, our suite was the perfect home away from home. We could walk 10 minutes to the old town for a great selection of cafes and restaurants or just grab a snack in the hotel's cafe. The folks at the desk spoke decent English and everyone was friendly and helpful. We love Pontevedra and we love the Dabarca!

We recently had the misfortune of spending a night in the Dabarco 'Hotel & Apartments' on our way to Santiago. Basically the room stank like an ash tray and both myself and my wife narrowly escaped a nasty fall due to an accident waiting to happen style curl on the corner of a rug in the room. If this wasn't bad enough we returned to the room at the end of a very pleasant evening in this wonderful, historic town to find the temperature was similar to that of a steam room. I asked the night shift worker (who was polite and pleasant) if there was anyway she could lower the temperature of the air conditioner, which was blasting out enough heat to fly a hot air balloon. We were told that the air climate control was set at that particular temperature for 'this time of year.' It was the end of May for heaven's sake; hardly the dead of winter. I felt sorry for the night porter who could could say nothing other than quote the company line. I've come across this kind of mean spirited, penny pinching, profit driven approach to customer service in hotels before but, based on the reviews posted on T. A. did not expect it of The Debacle - sorry - Debarco Hotel. The control pad was anchored to the wall encased in heavy duty Perspex only allowing the user to switch the dn thing on or off. So if you're passing through Pontevedra in summertime and you fancy a fag and a steam room you know where to go.
