Don't miss out on this dream hotel in the heart of stunning Tuscany. It is very quiet so if you are looking for buzzy nightlife this isn't the place but if you want tranquil, calm and fabulous book now! Parking is not owned by the hotel but is only a few yards away. Room 3 is very large and has delicious views over the countryside, pool and the gardens. Beautifully laid out rooms and a bath big enough to swim in. The power shower is great. Only a single basin which is a bit of a pain and at this level a double should be installed.
The staff are second to none, friendly but not over powering. We went to the cookery school for one morning which is an absolute must if you are any type of 'foodie'. Ricardo is a genius and was such a wonderful teacher. This actually made our holiday and we've been talking about it constantly, boring all our friends!

Stayed here as part of our honeymoon and we are so glad we did! A lovely hotel tucked away in the Tuscan countryside with lovely staff, decor, setting and food.
Our room was great, it was newly refurbished and had access to the roof which had stunning views. The bathroom was very nice and had all the amenities.
The pool area was small but perfectly fine for the number of guests there. The staff are on hand to keep you hydrated and happy.
We ate lunch and dinner there for the 3 days, the food was fantastic although I think we would have got bored of the menu if we stayed for any longer.
The staff were all friendly and really there to make sure you have a fantastic time.
The only downside was the repeating chart music playlist that was on from breakfast - dinner, it got highly annoying but when we asked for this to be changed they put a lovely relaxing playlist on.
We didn't use the spa as we were chilled enough being by the pool. The spa itself is in a separate building <1 minute walk from hotel.
Take a walk around the little village, the views are amazing!
For the price we were paying & given it was our honeymoon, we would have liked water to be complimentary and to have a glass of prosecco on arrival!
Would definitely return in the future and hope the little improvements will be addressed to enable us to rate this 5*.

Villa Sassolini is located a distance away from Montevarchi in a tiny hamlet. It is a boutique hotel, elegantly furnished in typical Tuscan fashion. Our suite was of a good size, well equipped and had a nice feel about it. Breakfasts and dinner can be taken by the poolside in the lovely gardens. The pool area itself is well laid out sunbed-wise. Communal rooms are pleasantly furnished and quiet.

Our dinners were very good with some nice menu options.

The hotel has a spa with steam and sauna and a small indoor pool. A masseur is available to book in the afternoons. We took advantage of these facilities when the weather was poor.

We had a lovely stay here.

Well if a boutique designer hotel in a quiet backwater of Chianti is your thing Villa Sassolini ticks that box. Everything is subtle greys, hardwoods and designer touches that make it a sumptuous and luxuries small hotel. We were upgraded due to our original room not being available- which was the deluxe room in the main tower with the roof terrace (highly recommended and where we stayed for our second night) . Great finishes , comfy beds , and a charming manager Andrea who also provided prosecco and a very warm welcome. But the spa is not in the hotel , it's in a building nearby in the hamlet. Also the restaurant isn't open on Mondays which was actually a blessing as our dinner there on the Sunday was a very , very disappointing affair. Terrible slow service, cold food , sparse portions and high prices ( even after a 30% discount). Being a regular visitor to Tuscany I have enjoyed fantastic food everywhere at great prices and even more amazing settings so to experience this is an expensive top end boutique hotel was very galling. The blessing was we didn't have to eat there again and instead went to a fantastic romantic restaurant 10 mins drive away. I'll be reviewing that shortly. FYI you can't get local cabs they have to come from Montevatchi and will charge €70 for the same short trip. The problem with the Villa sassolini is that it looks the part charges the price for its looks but the basics aren't right. One of our showers had nowhere to put your toiletries while showering, no where to hang your towel , no dressing gowns or slippers. At these sort of prices these little things need to be dealt with. The other issue is too few staff doing too much and you have to go and hunt for them if you want to order a drink while trying to relax by the pool. They are very charming when you do find them.
But the owners need to invest in more than something that looks good in Conde Naste traveller and focus on better service and most importantly- in a part of the world where it is hard to eat badly - a proper chef in the kitchen.
We gave feedback to Andrea who is very, very nice and comped another prosecco by way of apology. So good in parts not good in others. It could be great but I won't be going back to find out.

We simply love the Tuscan elegance of Villa Sassolini! It's cozy, charming yet simple. Andrea and all of the staff at the hotel are professional, very helpful and made us feel like family in this beautiful home away from home. The hotel is immaculate and the grounds are well manicured. The hotel restaurant is convenient and the meals are all first class.

Smog, the unofficial mayor of the Villa is a very sweet grey poodle. He patrols the grounds, making sure all of the guests are okay. He's too cute!

I plan on staying here again in a few months, just a short ride away from my favorite vineyard, I Selvatici Winery. Grazie mille Andrea for a fantastic vacation. You guys are the best!

Salute!

Gina
