Have passed the Amalia many times on our visits to Agia Efimia and this September decided to stop. The food was delicious - traditional kefalonian home cooking - unpretentious and very tasty. The homemade desserts were gorgeous - the ekmek, galaktomboureka, and baklava the best we had ever tasted. The family who run the restaurant are so friendly and welcoming - and the views across the Ionian Sea breathtaking, Can’t wait to go back when we return next May.

Overlooking the bay we watched the moon rise as we waited for our meal. The souvlaki was good the rabbit tasty but had rather a lot of bones!

I couldn’t fathom out tonight as I started to write this review why Amalia doesn’t have so many reviews as some of the other restaurants in Agia Efimia as it was very popular when we visited on two separate evenings. After changing my account settings to view reviews in all languages, I’ve discovered that there are actually plenty more excellent and well deserved Tripadvisor reviews .... but they are mostly in Italian! Dishes at Amalia are delicious, traditional and home cooked. The setting on the terrace is peaceful and relaxed surrounded by pergolas and flowers with views of the Ionian Sea, Ithaca and Sami. A photographer’s dream, especially when there’s a beautiful sunset. It’s just a short walk from the harbour front along the quiet section of the coastal road located between Odyssey Hotel and Gonatas Hotel. We love Agia Efimia and the village has so many excellent restaurants but after 4 years of holidaying in Agia Efimia, Amalia has become our favourite.

This restaurant is a bit away from the main town, but is definitely worth the walk. Food was amazing lovely view over the sea, we ate here twice while there and everything we had was lovely. Very friendly staff and nice relaxed atmosphere.

This family run taverna is situated on the outskirts of town. It is not to be missed. We had a lovely dinner with good food and friendly service. Excellent value. Will revisit
