Very rare indeed to discover such a gem but The Mill House is one of those special places that you instantly fall in love with. When we arrived, the owner, Karen made us feel so welcome and throughout our stay (sadly only one night!) nothing was a bother. Karen was kind enough to book us a table at the Northumberland Arms at nearby Felton – thoroughly recommended. We were both lost for words when we were shown our room and the lounge area with a wood burning fire aglow really sets the scene. The attention to detail in restoring these former mill house cottages is incredible and Karen has a passion for sharing the history of the cottages and the local area. As a nature enthusiast I could write an essay about species that we saw during our short stay but seeing Roe Deer from the lounge window was certainly our highlight. Best cooked breakfast I have ever had with locally sourced products and the smoked salmon option that my wife enjoyed was equally amazing! R&R in #Luxury with the warmest welcome. Please, please don’t pass this on – we want to be able to book again! Andy & Lisa Fox

I can honestly say this was the best B&B I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. Karen was absolutely lovely-she obviously puts a lot of thought, consideration and effort into making the place a home and it pays off. From the moment you step in the door you’re greeted with all the home comforts-comfy sofas, welcoming fireplace, Karen knew we’d brought a cheeky G&T with us and offered up her ice bucket, a lemon, chopping board and knife! It’s all about the finishing touches! That’s seen throughout the B&B with it’s homely and luxurious decor.

The best parts of the stay were exactly what it says on the tin-the bed and breakfast. I’ve never slept in a more comfortable bed with gorgeously soft Egyptian cotton sheets making you feel like you’re waking up in a cloud!
The breakfast was also second to none-Karen lays out a full array of cereals, muesli, fruit and yoghurts beside a second station for toast and every flavour of jam you can imagine. She then emerges with a freshly cooked full English made of local produce of the best quality. This is all in the setting of a beautiful cottage dining room with the radio gently playing in the background.

It was just an absolute pleasure from start to finish. If you’re looking for a place to unwind, one night here makes you feel like you’ve been away for a week. Thanks for a wonderful stay, I can’t wait to find an excuse to return!

From the first contact with owner Karen, it was a great experience, made to feel very welcome from our first contact, even before we arrived at this lovely property in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside. A cosy place to relax in a wonderful location, not too far from the A1 so easy to reach, yet nestled away from any main road and traffic. Its a good location to be able to explore the North East and its coastline. The room was beautifully decorated with lots of interesting touches, a large comfortable bed and large bathroom and modern walk in shower.
Vegetarian and gluten free options at breakfast, including fresh fruit and a traditional full English breakfast with very tasty ingredients. Unfortunately we could only stay for one night, but look forward to returning and using it as a base to explore the wider area. Karen booked a table for us for dinner at the Northumbrian Arms about three miles away, which was welcoming and served great food. Mill House is a great place to stay but enhanced by its owner, who makes her guests feel very special. Nothing is too much trouble.
Mill House is about thirty miles north of the lively city of Newcastle, great for shopping and leisure, about 10 miles south of Alnwick Castle and 35 miles south of Holy Island.

Just back from a stay at Mill House and I can't praise it enough - such a warm, welcoming feeling when you enter the property and Karen is so lovely - nothing was too much trouble and she went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. We stayed in the downstairs room and definitely got a wow moment when we opened the door - the bathroom is incredible. Such thought and attention to detail leaves you feeling well and truly pampered - the biscuits in the room are gorgeous! Breakfast was top notch and our only disappointment was that we were not staying longer to make use of the cosy lounge and log fire! I am already planning my next visit!
