Big hotel, swimming pool, nice room, A/C. They couldn't give us our reserved double, so they gave us a room with two beds, but it was on ground level, right off the beach, so we didn't mind. Excellent breakfast, great service. Food was just okay. There is no alcohol served on premises, but you can go next door to the Livingstone and enjoy a cold one at tables in the sand. We left late in the day and had to check out at noon, but they stored our luggage and gave us a room to change and take a shower in later in the afternoon.

Tembo is situated in the heart of Stone town, restaurants and traditional suvernior shops all within a walking distance, overall we enjoyed our stay. Especially waking up to the sound of the ocean every morning was a blissful experience

Visited for the music festival and I was excited to be so close to the festival venue, but my entire room smelled of fish and when I complained, the manager on duty said I was free to leave and that there were other people on the waiting list for my room. I never ate in the hotel because the food options were expensive and bland. Not only that, no alcohol was served in the hotel.

Clean hotel with average food (breakfast isn't what you would want it be) and a small beach in front of it that isn't really for sunbathing (people watching and coming by all the time).
Good value for money but your room may be across the street in a different part of the hotel (located in a small alley) and close to all the souvenir shops and nice bars and restaurants (everything is walking distance).

The hotel is located in the heart of Stone Town, within a walking distance from all the historical sites we wished to visit. Staff always willing to help, some prepared to go out of their way too. Thank you Tembo for such an experience
