Although most guest seem to be in transit to or from other places in Zanzibar, we were gratefully surprised at the attentiveness, graciousness, generosity and kindness of the professionals and staff people at FPH. We (as is apparently not uncommonly the case) arrived at ZNZ with our luggage missing. After filling out the missing baggage reports at ZNZ, the driver of the airport transfer to FPH was patiently waiting at 02:00, then escorted us to a hard-to-find ATM, made an enroute stop at a shop for us to buy bottled water, and even advised us of a fair price to pay for the bottles.
Once at FPH, managers and staff completely took care of tracking, collecting, and delivering our luggage to us. FPH people also provided periodic updates on where the bags were and when we would get them.
Our stay at FPH continued to be marked by excellent service and courtesy by management who quickly and effectively attended to any difficulties. Housekeeping was outstandingly clean and thorough; breakfasts were healthy, fresh, and tasty with lots of local produce and products; reception people were consistently friendly and helpful; and the small (~ 4m X 7m X 1m ) plunge pool and rooftop seating/observation areas were well maintained and readily available. The seating within a long side of the pool was a nice feature too.

The FPH’s restaurant was another delight. We had the vegetarian pizza, vegetable cream soup, sakami pizza, chicken penne, and chicken tikki Marsala on different days and meals. Each was excellently prepared, tasty, and reasonably priced.
Wifi was consistently strong and complimentary throughout our stay.
Possible concerns:
Sun beds that fully flatten and some sunshades in the pool area could be a plus.
When we approached FPH staff about booking a Chumbe Island day trip we were repeatedly assured there was no problem in making reservations a day in advance. But, when we requested a booking several days ahead of our intended date, we had to settle for a high-season trip 2 days later than our requested date. The date we finally did the trip turned out to be a good one, though.
Overall, FPH repeatedly delivered quality hospitality and services well beyond our expectations.
