If you are looking to avoid the "hotel feel" Stonetown cafe the place to stay. The rooms are clean and very nice with good housekeeping. The food is great for all meals ad the morning coffee is delicious. You must try the avocado drink while there. The cafe is located within easy walking distance of many Stonetown attractions and shopping.
The best part of the cafe is the people! Stay one night and you will be family. They truly take care of you.

Room Tip: If you don't mind a few stairs, the top floor was a great place to stay!

We loved staying at the Stone Town Cafe! It was charming, quaint, comfortable, clean, and the location was perfect - in the middle of stone town but close to the beach. Sitting outside for breakfast each morning amongst the palm trees was the perfect start to the day. It was a little haven perfectly located in the bustling city. We especially loved the spiced coffee and masala tea.

Anna was a great host, she helped us with everything we needed. She helped us get our laundry done which was extremely convenient and well done (although a bit too expensive), and helped us with taxis to and from the airport. She also booked a snorkel tour for us which I would actually NOT recommend. The operator was unfriendly and unprofessional. The snorkeling itself was great, but I would recommend finding your own tour operator another way.

The wifi wasn't strong enough to reach our room so we had to sit in the hallway to connect - not sure if other rooms were able to connect. The TV in our room had a fuzzy screen which needs fixed. Bring your own shampoo - they have bars of soap but not shampoo. Lastly, they only accept cash, no cards (but they are clear about this when you book which is helpful).

Room Tip: Room 2 has a balcony!

This place is open early for breakfast. It's super good and accurately priced. Friends and I ate here almost every morning while in stone town so we didn't try their lunch or dinner. It's super clean and servers are very helpful with good english speaking skills.

Stone Town Cafe is right on the main street so it is absolutely central. The room was very spacious, clean and very comfortable. Mosquito nets, aircon and TV. The bathroom had an excellent shower and plenty of space like the room. The food in the restaurant downstairs is delicious and very reasonable and as it was Ramadan we were given vouchers for breakfast in Tembo Hotel. While the guesthouse is fantastic for me it was the staff that made the place. Judi was very helpful and Anna in reception is so helpful, cheerful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and she really makes you feel like you are very welcome. I would highly recommend this accommodation.

I spent a few days here on holiday.

Communication before my visit was excellent. Judi, one of the owners was very helpful. She answered questions promptly and helped me coordinate pick up from the ferry from Dar es Salaam. This is a big help since the ferry terminal is awash with annoying taxi drivers eager to get a high fare from the uninformed.

Check in was very smooth. The staff was efficient. My room took a few minutes to get ready and the staff at the desk offered me a complimentary drink while I waited. Nice.

I met the chef at the restaurant and had a nice conversation with him.

The rooms are up the stairs and they are steep, so not for those with limited mobility.

The place is lovely. Lots of wood and white walls. Lovely furniture and rugs. vintage photos on the walls.

My room was decent sized with a comfortable poster bed with a good mosquito net. Nice linens.

Nice bathroom with a shower stall (many here have no stall). Nice organic soap in the bathroom. Attractive tiled vanity.

Nice desk and char for keeping organised. Small safe for valuables.

A nice touch was a mini fridge with bottled water every day.

Sturdy padlock on the door.

Convenient location. Quiet but in the middle of things.

Staff was VERY helpful in arranging tours, reservations for dinner etc.

A plus to me is the management's support of educational initiatives on the island with a part of proceeds.

Room price seemed fair.

A great base for my stay here, I would come back and recommend it without reservation.

Room Tip: There are only about six rooms. Mine was on the inside. some face the street and might be noisier...
