Our first holiday to Mauritius is in 1 word fantastic and but there isn't only one word to explain becauce everything is perfect and delicious. We're so suprised that the Mauritian food is so inmaginly great!

Beter that at home in Holland. Our moms food is even so good as Vikash food.
We have the All-in concept and thats the best thing we ever chose on oue holiday!

The cook Vikash is an really good host en so nice in talk and explain what everything is and made from.

The kitchen is very good en healty and everything is fresh maked.
The breakfast, lunch en diner are with fine local ingrediënts and so tastefull!

At last but not least the luchbox we've got for the lunch on the Island was so delicious!
Thank you so much Vikash and collegues for the great food!

Tropical Attitude are really putting in a lot of effort to provide guests with a unique Mauritius experience. The staff are very friendly and always helpful. Yesterday I did one of the free cooking classes by Vikash the Chef. It was a lot of fun and we really got to prepare a real Mauritius dish. Afterwards we could eat our own cooking. Yum. It was great fun and Vikash explain all about how to prepare it and what ingredients to use. In the end he gave us the recipe to take home. Great experience thanks to Vikash.

We are two couple of friends from Norway having 2 weeks at this lovely hotel. The first impression we got was the friendliness from everyone, and that impression lasted for the whole stay. Espesially the room service, our maid Deepa was extraordinary. The room was so tidy and clean and we were always looking forward to come back to the room. The food was excellent, new taste every day. 2 days with rain during 14 days. The location, Trou d'Eau Douce, were also perfect. Volcano stones at the beach, yes, and that felt so normal. Jelly shoes solved that easily. Please let this beach keep it's charm and dont make it as all the other "fake" beaches. The Island itself is an adventure, we have been south and north by taxi, but still a lot to see of cource. So all the best recommandations from us until we come back.

We had the opportunity to experience both Friday Attitude (FA) and Tropical Attitude (TA) on the same trip due to an overbooking error by the former. The hotels belong to a larger group and are located within about a 10 minute walk from each other, and despite some similarities, they are quite different:

FA caters to families whereas TA is an adult only establishment.

There are fewer rooms in FA and they line a long tropical garden that includes a rectangular swimming pool, a restaurant, bar, and then opens up to a narrow beach area. In TA, most rooms line the beachfront, and the pool is located near the restaurant and bar area. In addition, TA has a second restaurant that opens three days per week and serves local cuisine (space there is limited). Both hotels have a spa. FA has what they call a kids club (a small fenced area with a plastic slide and a hut, just enough to keep the little ones from escaping). FA has a lovely beach, whereas TA has really no beach, but instead a rock wall that protects the resort from the waves. However, just a five minute walk along the water towards FA leads to a nice sandy area.

The pool at FA had clear (but exceedingly warm) water, while the one at TA was slightly cloudy, and after a single use followed by a hefty rinse, we decided to stick with the ocean. The water quality improved after a few rainy days. Unlike at FA, there was at least a poolside shower at TA. It might be a good idea for FA to install a water tap for rinsing sand off one’s feet when transitioning from beach to pool.
At both TA and FA, rooms are clean, showers have good water pressure, and beds are comfortable. The rooms a TA are quite a bit nicer and more spacious, and were recently repainted. The beds at TA are larger and have extra pillows. The safe at TA is easier to use, as are the locking mechanisms for the main door, which at FA are really cumbersome. The ground level rooms at both places, but especially so at TA, suffer somewhat from a lack of privacy, unless one draws the curtains shut. Both hotels have free high speed WIFI – at FA no password is required, whereas TA guests are given a password that works on two devices. TA has an espresso maker in the room, but lacks FA’s drying racks for beach towels.

FA has a very relaxed bar that is an extension of the beach, complete with sandy ground. This was actually one of the reasons why we originally selected FA. The bar at TA is adjacent to the pool, and is more formal, but very comfortable. Both offer cocktails, mostly of the Tiki variety.

Staff at FA were universally friendly, relaxed and helpful. Many of the staff at TA were very nice, but there were some who came across as rather surly, especially when faced with any request outside of their predetermined norm. The spa staff at both places was extremely nice and competent.

The restaurants at both establishments serve buffet style meals, and in general food was not particularly good. That said, the food at TA is a significant step up from FA. Despite seemingly numerous choices, we found very little at FA that we wanted to eat, whereas the food at TA included some items that were quite good, and dishes presented in a much more appetizing manner. However, quality was inconsistent, such as the pizza which was fine one day, but undercooked on another. On certain nights, TA switches from buffet style to a sit down menu with a few choices, thus elevating the experience. The downside to TA is, however, the fact that long pants are required for men at dinner service. Seriously? What are you trying to convey here? TA is not nearly classy enough to warrant such silliness, but at least it kept the mosquitoes away from the lower extremities. Between noon and 4 pm, both hotels offer complimentary self-serve finger food snacks such as mini samosas, by means of presenting them in a small covered cart that is parked on the grounds. These were very tasty and appreciated.

So there you have it. If you want a place that caters to families, has friendly service and is relaxed, then go for FA. If you don’t like to watch pool noodle fights, and prefer a quieter and more adult establishment, then TA may be the better choice. Personally, I would stick with half board and pay for drinks and a small snack during daytime, but if one’s idea on a holiday is to indulge in hourly beers and drinks, then the all-inclusive package may be the right option. Keep in mind that the hotel requires signatures for all items even if they are included. Altogether, both hotels are quite nice and reasonably priced, and we enjoyed our stay at them.

We stayed in this hotel for a week, from the 6th to the 13th of april.

The employees:
The employees make your stay very comfortable! They all are very nice and try to make your stay as pleasant as possible. We would especially like to thank Rooksanah for tidying up our room and decorating it nicely, Karen for the reception work and Ram from the kitchen staff!

The room:
Very good shower (rain & normal, high water pressure)
Good and Very big bed, bit hard but no issues sleeping.
Enough closet space.
Mini-bar

The pool:
Due to lack of time we used the pool just once, but we liked the pool.

The boathouse:
There is a free boat ride to the island Ile aux Cerfs, which is very nice. Probably more trips to arrange, we did not check.

There is security in the resort and on the private parking lot. Reception can arrange a rental car, daytrips, exchange of money and much more.

Points of improvement:

Drinking glasses at breakfast are too small.

There could be more variation in the dining options, and maybe more
Mauritian (less ‘European’). But that could be a choice, since most of the guests are typical Europeans (we did not like most of the guests).

Hello,

Thank you for choosing our hotel for your 7 nights stay and for taking the time to share about your experience.

I am delighted that you had a nice time with us, appreciating our overall resort. Our Family Members are very happy to read your encouraging words.

I have taken good note of your constructive comment with regards to more Mauritian Food. Our Kot Nou Restaurant serves only typical Mauritian dishes and is open three times per week. I have shared your suggestion with our Chef and his team.

Looking forward to welcoming you back soon at Tropical Attitude,

Best Regards,
