I was a tad apprehensive when reading previous reviews of this hotel prior to going, however they were totally unfounded. From the minute we arrived after two long flights, we were greeted warmly and treated exceptionally. Joanna who booked us in was very gracious and courteous. We apologise that she had to explain things twice - we were very tired! We appreciated the arrival-cocktail and hot towel: lovely touches.
All staff, from gardeners, housekeeping, restaurant staff were very friendly and polite. We were constantly asked if everything was ok with our stay which we always said yes too. We had absolutely no issues at all. Our regards to Pamela in the Executive Lounge which we were given free access too and the other gentleman whom I didn't get his name. He knows who he is as he would automatically know what our order was haha...although one night we did mix it up and confused him...sorry!!!
Our room was spacious and had a great view of the whisper area/adult pool. This is what sold us on this hotel. Unfortunately there was a family who constantly flouted the rules and had their teenage sons in the pool. The poor pool staff had to tell them everyday to extract themselves from the pool. Did they? No. There are rules for everyone to adhere too, not just for certain people. Majority of people who did have children in the pool and were told to leave always did. There is a lovely pool at the other end of the complex for families.
With regards to the room, this was a deluxe family room. The beds were so comfy, each night we had a great nights sleep. I wanted to take home the bed and the shower!! We always had plenty supplies of tea, coffee, body wash, shampoo, body lotion and towels,. There was a hairdryer provided and shaver point. Both ceiling fans and air con is available. The only thing, and I'm reluctant to give a negative review: we sometimes lacked a floor mat for when coming out of the shower.however we managed. Everyday we were given free water along with the tea coffee supplies etc.
There was a plentiful range of food and there was never a night where we thought there was nothing we wanted to eat. The sweets/desserts were exceptional: very good indeed!!
The grounds are gorgeous and well kept. So much so the guys were constantly power cleaning the paths. It was a bit of a shock however when the adult pool area was being done at 1:45 in the morning.
Overall we had a lovely relaxing holiday. One another note, our transfers to and from the airport was with Whitesands Tours. Both drivers were were friendly, helpful and safe drivers.
We didn't use the water sports centre as we aren't into that kind of thing.
The absolutely only negative thing I would mention would be that cats sometime roamed the restaurant and dogs in the grounds. As I'm not an animal person, this slightly freaked me out.
I decided to make my own opinion of this hotel and glad I did. Some people moan about the silliest things.
