I had heard that Tiny's Grill had served very good food, so my wife and I went there last night. The waitress was very attentive and friendly and didn't have to be badgered refilling our drinks. I ordered the Fisherman's Platter which was plentiful in it's offerings, and included macaroni salad. My wife ordered the Cajun Fish Fry. The fried fish was very good in it;s own right and we both thought that the coating would have incorporated a spicey seasoning, but that was not the case. Instead, some kind of spicey/tangy sauce was poured over the fish. Huh? Being a chef of several decades who has taught Cajun cooking and a frequent visitor to New Orleans, I was puzzled at the concept of a "Cajun" sauce. To be nice - I wouldn't recommend it. The French Fries are homemade, and not to fault the chef, but I have yet to find anyplace in Utica that knows how to properly cook homemade French Fries. They're really soggy, and when you place a hot piece of fried fish on top of it, it makes it even more soggy. Not good.I have to give it 4 out of 5 for effort. Personally, I would have left-off the plate garnishings of sliced fruit and served the mac salad on a separate monkey dish (2 reasons here - don't place a mayo item next to something hot, plus you have more room for the fries), Now you have more room for the fries to get less soggy and save money on garnishings which went out of style in the 80's. Your food should have enough merit to stand on it's own. Change the idea of a "Cajun" sauce. Please. I forgot to mention that you can't use an OD Discount Card on Fish Fries or Corned Beef.
