We had dinner and breakfast in the American Hotel. Both were delicious. The food is saisonal and local without any special effects. An old traditional American place, which I can recommend warmly. They have a huge winelist with reasonable prices. The service is attentive and friendly. Start or end your dinner with a drink at the historical bar and don't forget to visit the nice toilet :)

I was immediately attracted to the front of the restaurant. The name felt fitting and it had a very "All American" vibe. On Sag Harbor's delightful main street I sat down excited for the meal that was to be had, but I left just feeling "okay".

Nothing to complain about really but nothing to rave about either. With some other really stellar restaurants in the general vicinity I expected every one of them to be gunning for "best restaurant" but it seems The American missed the memo.

Staff was very friendly and our server (I, regrettably, forget her name) were very knowledgeable and attentive. Would return after some menu changes.

Great atmosphere, excellent piano entertainment from NYC and good food. It's a don't miss. The decore is very elegant without being stuffy. The bar area is always a happening scene.

Dining in a historic landmark hotel is always a treat. Great for couples particularly in the center room although the piano room is equally as charming for dinner. Try the side court for lunch. Expect great food and prompt professional service.

We were eating at several restaurants during our stay, so that we have forgotten exactly what we ate. What we do recall was that both of our meals were outstanding. Just as important was the dripping charm, and the kissable romantic setting. Tables were nicely placed so that conversations didn't leak. Oung, our fast-paced waiter, was attending to more tables than he should have been assigned but there was a fleet of juniors who jumped for whatever we needed, including bar needs and dessert. We'd go back in a minute.
