Steve and Melissa are the most gracious hosts you will find. They went out of their way to make our stay here comfortable and full of small touches that made it truly like spending the weekend at a friend's (very nice) home.
The home is a little unassuming when you drive up, but spectacular once you step thru the doors. The interior is decorated with high-end touches everywhere, stocked with a full assortment of coffee for the Keurig, an immaculately clean refrigerator awaiting your use (prestocked with creamer, wine, and sparkling cider for the kids), super comfortable beds, and plenty of blankets to curl up under if the weather turns chilly. The alcove off the main living space has a couch that is dangerous if you are even a little sleepy, it is so easy to sink into. The home has 5 televisions with cable and the ability to log into your netflix or amazon account if you want to binge. The wifi is more than adequate - we had four people running multiple devices, including from the back deck, with ease. You can pipe music out to the deck, even the end of the dock. The bathrooms are colorful and stocked with really nice towels (no tub, showers only). The sunroom is a great place to build a puzzle, read a book, play boardgames, or just sit in awe of the sounds of the lake on a wild night.
Seneca Lake beckons from every room in the house, begging you to come outside and sit on the big comfy couch, turn on the fire pit, and watch the geese while you sample some of the local wine. The lake comes right under the back deck, you are directly on the water, which can vary from calm and clear to sounding like high tide at the beach on a windy day.
The property is in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine region, with multiple wineries and breweries only a short drive away. The closest place for restaurants is Geneva. You are about an hour from the Rochester airport in one direction, an hour from Ithaca & Cornell University to the south. You may want to check for activities in the area, as we spent a lot of time avoiding runners and bicycles on Sunday as they were running the perimeter of the lake.
We had originally planned a stay here over Thanksgiving, and it would have been perfect for spending the holidays together. So glad we got the opportunity to come experience this really lovely home.
