“Very nice restaurant in an artsy part of town”
Reviewed 29 April 2012

We ate at Hogans tonight, and the experience was very nice, as it always is at this cozy little establishment. Hogans is a very artsy restaurant tucked into an artsy part of Rochester, along the Park Avenue strip of cafes and boutiques. It is set up on two levels, with a bar and small entertainment area up top, and a main dining room on the lower level, near the street. The interior walls are decorated with a variety of artsy photos and paintings...very city-ish!

Hogans has a very nice menu, with a lot of informal dining options, as well well as several entree that are at the higer end, suc as their scallops on pasta ($22.00). Tonight, I enjoyed their crabcake sandwich, which was about $11.00, although the sweet potato fries were an extra $1.50. The meal was very good, and came with some tasty onion rings as well. My family ordered vegetarian burritos, which they seemed to enjoy. (They said the salsa was "very spicey," but they say that most things are too spicey!)

One negative thing about this restaurant...they only have about six parking spaces outside, (no kidding), so it's tough finding a nearby spot. But that shouldn't ruin your enjoyment of this very unique and nice place.

“Institution on Park Ave for a Good Reason”
Reviewed 2 April 2012

We have been coming here for years, decades even, and the food is consistently very good. Their Reubens and crab cake sandwiches are always good as are many of their blackboard specials. We stopped in during Restaurant Week with friends and everyone enjoyed their entrees of Salmon, Atlantic Char and the Cornell Chicken. The creamy honey salad dressing has been a favorite of mine all of these years as well as the excellent peanut butter pie. Hogan's is a place you can count on for a very nice casual meal.

“Wonderful for a lunch or a light dinner”
Reviewed 21 December 2011

Hogans is a great little place to stop by if you are in the neighborhood, especially in the middle of the day for a great lunch. The restaurant also contains a bar area, although most people do not tend to "hang out" for long in this area.

Hogans is known for having innovative preparations of meals that are more healthy than other local restaurants. They have quite a few vegetarian offerings as well, although you can still get burgers and fries if you really want.

The only drawback to Hogans is the parking, because it is in the city, and the lot in the back of the place holds no more than about a dozen cars, so be prepared to walk a bit if you arrive during the busy hours. Still, though, Hogans is worth the wait and the walk.
