I really wrestled with my rating on Farm Country Kitchen, but ultimately decided to go with average as the overall rating. All our food was very good and well prepared from being served at the right temperature and seasoning. Kudos to the chef. The other things that just were not right made the food alone not make it rise to overall very good and forget excellent. We were a little afraid of the parking area, as it is on a busy cut through Riverhead road and it took awhile for us to be able to pull in and out safely. This was our first time dining here and we were not quite sure where to go and who to tell that we had arrived for our reservation. We found the hostess and after a few minutes of trying to get out of the way of all the servers, we were acknowledged and told our table was being set up for us. We were seated on the porch where the view is nice, but it was so hot and the tables are crowded together in every nook and cranny. It is not conducive at all to having any type of table conversation without having to shout. And if you do shout as many of the surrounding tables were doing!!, not our style, everyone around you knows all your business. The service was very good by some staff and not so good by others. A few misses with drinks ( I did not receive the $15. glass of Sancerre that I had ordered, but my husband did not want to make a fuss so he drank it), and we always seemed to have to ask for replacement utensils and more water. Your meal is fast paced, but they did ask if we were finished before taking the plates and we just said no to give them a hint to slow down the process a little. One really annoying thing was that every time one of the staff went in the refrigerator for any alcoholic beverages, a bright light went on that shined right in the faces of about 6 of us diners. My husband says he wants to go back for the food, but he can more easily ignore some of these other missteps than I can. So the jury is still out on that one.

A very unassuming exterior belies the beautiful view of the Peconic river. Service is excellent, the food is quite good and in the nice weather you can actually sit out on the lawn next to the river which is very peaceful.

We have been here several times and it is consistently good.

Excellent Gem ! I come here for lunch when I want a beautiful view of the river and healthy salads, delicious appetizers, and wonderful sandwiches. Have not had a bad meal yet. We just tried the goat cheese bruschetta which was out of this world. We sat outside for a special treat which is a basic picnic table with an umbrella if you prefer you can sit in the covered porch and still see the view or if you prefer inside is also quite and quaint .

Alissa provided amazing service !!

We arrived without a reservation and were quickly seated. This was our first visit. It is not easily seen from the road and was a bit difficult to find. It is a quaint old farmhouse. The server was very serious initially but quickly warmed up as the night went on. The server was very attentive to our table. We ordered appetizers of BBQ shrimp and lobster cakes. Both appetizers came with a very fresh large salad and was filling. Our entrees were two spaghetti dishes one with scallops and the other with mixed seafood such as clams, mussels, shrimp and scallops. Both dishes were excellent. Later in the evening the owner, Tom welcomed us. We complimented him on his food. The prices might be a bit high but well worth it. Behind the restaurant is the Peconic River, they serve dinner along the river during the summer months. Give this restaurant a try you won't be disappointed.
