The day of our visit, a special exhibit of Andy Warhol's work was on display.
Even without Warhol, the museum has a fine collection despite its small size.
Some of the artists on display: Georgia O'Keefe, Picasso, Thomas Cole, George Inness, Toulouse Lautrec, Matisse.
In addition a number of antique Chinese, Roman and Egyptian sculptures are here.
We were advised that there was to be no photography of the Warhol exhibit but most of the museum's other works were available to photograph.
Worth spending an hour or so (can't beat the price!!).

I had never been to this museum until recently even though friends and relatives had frequently mentioned it. The collection has very good pieces that are displayed nicely and they have special exhibits that change. There are also several nice restaurants within walking distance. It is a good place to bring children in order to help that begin to appreciate art throughout history.

We went mainly to see the Andy Warhol Exhibit. The Art Center was larger than we expected and had mixture of various other artist pieces that were also on display. Admission was free which was an added bonus.

In Poughkeepsie's best designed building, by I. M. Pei, there is found world class art works, unexpected in a small town, including a solid permanent exhibition and changing, carefully curated shows designed not only for their aesthetic but also their educational value. So we can enjoy the sensuous appeal and maybe learn a thing or two. There's also an attractive garden where we can contemplate the experience.

We stopped by after a visit to the CIA. Not exactly our kind of art. Probably would not return. We are used to larger museuma.
