I was pleased to find this B&B right smack in the middle of Old Forge. It's within walking distance from many venues and an easy drive to many other places in this beautiful part of the world. Margaret is a gracious host who not only prepares sumptuous breakfasts but gives you good suggestions on where to visit or to shop and offers tea or coffee even when you didn't realize you needed it! Margaret pays attention to your interests and is always looking for different ways to meet the needs of different people.
The White House is lovely. My bed and pillows were very comfortable and I did have a private bathroom in my room, which is not the case for all the rooms. (You may have your own bathroom but you might have to walk down the hall to it, or even up a flight of stairs.) Margaret did reveal that to me over the phone and I was very appreciative of that.
For those of you who use a GPS to arrive at your destination, I learned that you are better off using 2945 Route 28, instead of 2945 Main Street, because some GPS software take you to a very different location. The White House B&B is truly right on the main drag going through Old Forge so, if you're directed to the woods, you'll be going the wrong way! Stay on Route 28!
White House B&B was a great place to visit for the fall foliage, which was spectacular this year!
I selected this B&B because all the reviews were so good. Guess what? They're all right! This is a lovely place to stay in for a visit to the Adirondacks.
