This was a "mystery destination" for my husband's 75th birthday. It was a perfect setting with perfect staff - they even took the cake I had brought out of it's container, put it on a plate and wrote "Happy Birthday" around the edge of the plate. Couldn't have been better!

I was seeking a winter wonderland retreat into the Adirondack mountains this Christmas for a quiet romantic, post card "cabin in the woods" retreat, and the Garnet Hill Lodge exceeded my expectations! Its a small rustic 16 room Inn overlooking a gorgeous mountain landscape. This is not a mega resort with endless entertainment options, this is an intimate, quaint, romantic property with a small staff to ensure your stay is inviting and you are welcomed. The main gathering spot is around the lobby fireplace. The owner frequents the property and interacts with the guests often and is very involved in making sure all your needs are met. There is a ski lodge at the property where you can take lessons, rent equipment and take off on what seems like an endless maze of trails through the back country.

We always visit in winter for cross country skiing, which is awesome. Only complaint this year was that they didn't offer the bus from the bottom of the hill back up the mountain because it wasn't a Thursday-Sunday. That's never happened before. Disappointing since we paid as much as those going during those times. But the ambience of this lodge is second to none. Food is good. Bed was comfy. We love it here so forgive the bus snafu.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money for a balcony in the log house. It's worth it.

We are so thankful to our customers who return year after year. You make Garnet Hill the special place it is. So sorry you had a bus snafu this year. Generally our buses do run 7 days a week as long as the conditions allow for it, but are more frequent on the weekends.

For a family to take over the Lodge, for meals and a wedding, seemed like a huge undertaking, but the Lodge was up to it, and it made for a delightful weekend.
The property is a bit rustic, informal, as it should be, but the cooking, the staff friendliness and accommodation, made the whole experience one to remember.
From this location, ( a fur bit off the main highway), we made day trip to Fort Ticonderoga, and plenty of other really historical spots, and beautiful spots in the area.
Going back would be ideal for a week to wander in the Adirondacks, and use this as a home base.

Room Tip: 2nd floor facing the lake!

Really enjoyed our stay here, went in the fall , after foliage and before ski season. Not many people at that time. The main floor in the lodge is large with wonderful little nooks to hang out with beautiful large fireplaces. The breakfasts were top quality, plentiful and with lots of choice. The rooms are clean and comfortable, just call ahead if you want a mini fridge in the room. Stayed in room 8 great unostructed
