“Fantastically located hotel with a great view; friendly and accommodating staff”
Reviewed 28 August 2011

Pros:
- Conveniently located with a fantastic view of the rest of Thira, the Caldera, Thirassia and the town of Oia
- Fantastic shower and grooming equipment
- Beach beds and bar tables on a very cool terrace
- Spotlessly clean
- Friendly and accommodating staff
- A very simple but tasty breakfast can be served in your room on the balcony, allowing you to have breakfast and take in the breathtaking view

Cons:
- Travel light - access via a long set of steps from the Main Church in the square
- The jacuzzi on the terrace was not well maintained (probably due to lack of use...)
- All the individual balcony umbrellas were broken - makes sitting on the balcony difficult when the sun is shining in your face (between 3 and 7 pm)
- Terrace closes a little early

We stayed in a suite which sleeps 4. We were 3 adults and a 2 year old. The suite easily fit us all, but the sofa bed needs to be replaced...very hard to sleep on. One minor point is that the bath does not have a tub which can be an issue for families with young kids. The hotel staff was very nice and we were overall pleased with the decision. Although the hotel was great if we had to do it again with a toddler we would have stayed in Oia instead of Fira as Oia seemed to be a slower pace and more child friendly (e.g. stroller use). One last tip, if you are traveling with a toddler to Santorini make sure you bring one of those back packs that is designed to carry your child. It was a life saver!

I just got back from a 5 night stay at Hotel Thireas. It is a small hotel, 7 rooms, that has been recently renovated. The small staff was lovely, and breakfast (juice, coffee, bread, jam and honey, cheese and meat) , is brought to guests and served on their individual terraces. The only, and I mean only, drawback is that the room we were given was quite small, but it did accommodate our need, which was to sleep and wake and view the absolutely breathtaking view. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Santorini.

I cannot imagine a better or more comfortable hotel in all of Fira. Yes, there are steps down to the hotel, but the management was very kind in helping to arrange luggage assistance on the way out. The entire facility had just been recently updated with fresh paint and lovely lines just before we arrived. The terrace was big enough for 4 people to eat breakfast comfortably with plenty of space. The breakfast was more than enough with a variety of breads and pastries, great coffee, juice, cheese and ham. The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring all of Santorini. It's a couple of minutes walking to the main shopping area of Fira, maybe 5 minutes to the steps/donkeys/cable cars down to the old port and about 10 minutes to the next town. Oia is a 12 Euro cab ride away (though since the cabs aren't metered that could be anywhere from 10-16 depending on the driver's demand). The manager had a lovely map for us highlighting restaurants, attractions, bus stops, etc. and it was very helpful. Really, our stay there could not have been more pleasant and I"m already planning a return trip.

Walked in the door and staff had a map already made up showing beaches, restaurant, sites with their commentary on the highs and lows. Very friendly. Beautiful views and nice rooms. Be prepared (as for all hotels here) the steps up and down to the ,hotel from town are difficult with luggage. Only a minute to the town (fira).
