We stayed in Rimida Villas at the beginning of April 2012, during Greek Easter.

This hotel has an amazing view at the Caldera, really breathtaking but it is also situated in a very calm place of the village. You indulge in the view, listening only to nature!

We booked our room through bookings, taking advantage of a special promotion for a studio. Once arrived with our baby son, we were offered an upgrade to an apartment to be more comfortable!

The owner was very helpful and polite We learned from the locals that he was president of the village and everyone was grateful to him for having preserved Oia from massive tourism and maintained the traditional picturesque character of the village.

This is why, I think the rooms are traditionally decorated and not modernized, as many luxury boutique hotels around. This offers a unique and genuine experience to the traveler.

Even-though breakfast was not included in the offer, we received a special treat for Easter and fresh boiled eggs from the village's chicken for our young boy! We really felt like home!

Rimida is one of the rare hotels facing the Caldera, accepting children as guests.

I loved this place. I had been travelling on a tour for a few weeks and was exhausted (and suffering the tail end of food poisoning from Morocco) and the few days I spent here were heaven. It was a little more than my usual budget but sooo glad I splurged to stay in Oia rather than Thira. I arrived late in the evening while it was dark, slept in, (its soo peaceful) and waking up and heading on to the terrace I couldn't believe the amazing view. It was an overwhelming moment I still get goosebumps thinking about. I didn't leave Oia in my four days there except to go on a day excursion on a boat. The little town is gorgeous and a photographers heaven. The hotel service was exceptional - extremely friendly and helpful, the bunglaow gorgeous and sitting on the terrace was soo relaxing. Breakfast on the terrace was divine. The pool is great and I spent quite a bit of time there. Its a little out of the main shopping area (5 mins walk) and thats what makes it so peaceful (still surrounded by other hotels). From the hotel you don't get the best view of the sunset but my tip to avoid the crowds - walk down the hill past the castle there is a hotel with a huge pool and a bar that is pretty much as far forward as you can go and for some reason its not jam packed with people. I've tried to look it up but can't find it - maybe the Golden Sunset Villas or else right next to it (On Google maps you can see the big pool). You can get a table, have a drink and soak up that amazing sunset. Further up the hill its standing room only (if you breath in). Ths hotel isn't bookable on the usual hotel websites you need to contact them directly. I have travelled a lot but never been to Santorini and this place was the highlight of my latest 6 week trip to Europe. I will be back!!

I had the most wonderful time in Santorini and this was enhanced by our wonderful time at Rimida Villas.

The owner Demetri was very helpful to and acted as our translator to arrange restaurant reservations, give directions around the island, arrange transfers from the airport and show us around the facilities. We had a fantastic view and the rates are unbeatable.

The bed was fine, if you're used to beds in Europe it isn't that big of a deal - it reminds me of a lot of the beds from flats I've rented in in London (I'm American). In addition to the natural cave air conditioning, they also had regular air-con units that were powerful but quiet and were very welcome on the 90+ degree days.

The location was fantastic - close enough to get great views of the famous sunset but far away enough from the crowds that the area didn't turn into a tourist dungeon. Direct views of the caldera. The pool was maintained very well and was clean - about 30 steps from where the villas were. The bathrooms could have used a little updating but it wasn't a big deal. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others and will definitely be back again.

A word of caution, like most of Santorini, this isn't a place for young children - there were no railings or barriers near any of the ledges.

Room Tip: We stayed in number 6 and will request it again next summer. Had direct views of Fira, the Caldera...

What a place to stay!!!! This has got to be the best deal in OIA. Demetri and his staff were the best ! The location was magnificent and close to the town of OIA-approximately walking time was 3 minutes by foot. Our room was the largest cave dwelling in the complex. A very large two bedroom with sitting area, dining area, kitchenette and full bath. We had a patio out our front door and an upstairs private patio as well. The internet access was free and good. The breakfast was brought to our patio on request and included in the price of the room. Of course the view of the caldera was spectacular. The swimming pool was large with a kitchen and baths for our use. The bed was very comfortable. We will definitely be back. A great Greek restaurant was located across the street from the hotel-Anemomelos? Tony was great as the waiter and the food was excellent. This is the kind of place that you can go to the kitchen and see what's cooking for the day!

Room Tip: Geoula is the manager and is very helpful.
