“Perfect Oasis, Lovely Village, Spectacular Views”

I cannot recommend Fava enough. It was exactly what I was looking for and even better than advertised.

I was part of a two week traveling party of friends and family celebrating a cousin's wedding. Everyone else was about 10 years younger than me and into partying/ staying on the Caldera in Fiera, waking up late, etc. That whole crowded tourist experience is just not for me and I wanted to stay somewhere quiet and beautiful with more of a real Greek island feel. Honestly, I did not even really want to go to Santorini at all based on accounts of terrible throngs of cruise ship passengers and ticky tacky streets, etc.

All that being said, I ended up LOVING Santorini and it is all down to Fava and some good advice from various strangers on the internet. There are wonderful things to do and places to go that are off the main tourist routes. And Santorini itself is so beautiful that I am glad I did not miss it/ would even go back and stay at Fava again.

Fava itself was exactly what I was looking for, a reasonably priced place with just the right touches and beautiful, spacious and clean. Mr Grigoris, the caretaker was a lovely, friendly and incredibly helpful man and went way above and beyond to get me out of a bind at one point. Everywhere you look around the grounds and the quaint village of Finikia are gorgeous little vistas, beautiful flowers, unbelievable architectural details, gorgeous little cave homes, families cooking outside and enjoying dinner, spectacular light, etc., etc..

Oia is a 10-15 minute walk and a peaceful as well as spectacular place to be in the morning before all the tourists arrive. I read a lot of advice about needing to stay on the Caldera if you want the real Santorini experience. If I could have afforded one of the more luxurious places, that might have been equally wonderful to Fava but I got plenty of the Caldera in the mornings, on hikes, on boat tours, and what have you. On my budget, and really at any sum, I was just thrilled about where I was staying compared to my friends and family. I could have just stayed at Fava and in it's immediate environs, relaxed for 5 days and had an amazing vacation.

I enjoyed everything I did…early-ish morning walks to Oia and breakfast on the Caldera in the spectacular views and peace before the tourists arrive (they seemed to arrive btw 9 & 10am), the hike to Fiera with a stop for lunch at the restaurant that clings off the cliff at the main road and fresh fish from that morning, wine tasting and food pairing at Sigalas, Akrotiri museum and lunch at Taverna Glaros, a day touring around to the museum in Fira / the bakery in Pyrgos / a lovely and delicious lunch at Selene Taverna / the black beach, an afternoon boat trip with the wedding group on Captain George’s fantastic rickety old wooden sailboat / lovely walks getting "lost" in Finikia 20m from Fava , etc., etc..

FYI:
-It seemed only certain buses will stop at the Finikia stop and they did not seem to run as often as they said on the bus website. There is a rep at the terminus in Oia and I found late in the trip that you can go there an ask him the current schedule deal/ confirm which buses will make the local stops. Overall the buses are a real bargain. Just don't cut it close with anything.
-The bed was not as hard as / was more comfortable than a lot of European beds but did not have the nice Beautyrest Black or similar firm BUT with a pillow top feel that you find in most decent US hotels at this point...even the Yes Hotel in Athens had that type of bed.
-The nearby restaurant in Finikia is good and specializes in meat but has other good things too. I ate there twice.
-Splurge on breakfast a couple mornings at Melenia in Oia (20 min or so walk from Fava) and view the Caldera.
-Do not eat at Katina restaurant in Ammoudi. My seafood which looked really fresh before it was cooked was over-cooked and dry by the time it got to our table...a real let down.

Long story short: I loved it. If you like the way it looks from the photos and has the amenities you prioritize, you cannot go wrong. The house and the village are just precious.

“Lovely stay for 7! Definitely recommend for families and friends traveling.”

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Oia at Fava Residence. Antonis and Mr. Stathis (groundskeeper) were amazing. The location was easily accessible to the main street for shops and restaurants. The restaurant nearby was one of the best we enjoyed during our stay.

Communication was easy with Antonis and he followed up whenever there was a question or problem, not that there were anything of significance. He was always quick to respond and cater to our needs. Antonis also helped with coordinating our transport from the airport and back.

Strongly recommend!

“The most authentic Santorini experience”

This house has a history and many stories, stories better told by the gracious host of this unique and exquisitely appointed home who spent many summers here growing up. Yes, it is this sense of home and not house that you'll fall in love at Fava Residence and what makes this place utterly unforgettable. More than the unbelievably expansive view of the sea from the terrace or the amazing scenery of the old village of Finikia from every window, or the absolute silence that falls under the sky full of stars even though it is only a few minutes walk from the main town of Oia, this sense of belonging you are invited to feel is very very special. So if you stay here, I encourage you to take a moment between all activities of the day and sit back and let the life unfold in front of you….the time stands still here and it will truly be a transportive experience.
