Beaulieu is a lovely place and the apartment is well placed to enjoy the town and the river. There is a a weir at Beaulieu which means the river is slow moving and very pretty. We have two kids aged 3 and 6 at the time who loved the place and the area. Great to swim in the river although a little cold. There is a shallow bathing area where you can easily walk into the river on the opposite side and an outside swimming pool. We did a few greta day trips to the local railway at Martel, canoeing in the Dordogne, choose a warm day ( can get cold otherwise with young kid) and Rocamadour, where the kids walked bottom to top and we had a picnic at the top. Beaulieu has nearby bakers and supermarket on edge of town about a mile away. Beautiful town and the accommodation does what it says on the tin. The photos sold us on the place and were accurate. In a perfect world you would have a balcony to sit out on - instead we settled on the river bank which was a lovely place to while away the odd hour. Highly recommended as long as you are OK with steep stairs. The flat is well located and has all the amenities required. the town in July/August had regular evening events on the river bank which added to the week we were there.
The flat is stunningly situated a few yards from the river in a handsome small town that is not completely overrun by tourists. We particularly liked the very bright kitchen and living area, which looks out over the river and a 12th century church. Bakery, butcher, etc. are all within easy walking distance and Beaulieu is the perfect base from which to explore the area.
