Stayed for 2 nights in Aldeia Jerome, and paid to be upgraded to the room-terrace suite (€50 as opposed to €35 I think), which was definitely worth it.
Had a room-top terrace outside the room with a stunning view over the local area of Villa das Pombas.
Breakfast was good, although service was a little slow at times, and the room was always clean and well looked after.
Given the limited location in the area, this is definitely the best place to stay, and the only thing that lets it down slightly are the staff - we were advised that English was spoken, but this didn't seem to be the case with the members of staff that we encountered. We therefore had to try and communicate in French and Portuguese (neither of which we are very good at!) and staff did not seem to make any effort to assist us with our enquiries, and were often nowhere to be seen. When we needed to check-out early in the morning, we could not find anyone the night before to speak to about settling our bill and so had to wait until morning, and even then staff were late turning up, didn't really do anything to help us grab a quick breakfast, and were generally very relaxed, even though we had said we had a taxi arriving shortly. However, if you speak either Portuguese or French, you may have a slightly better experience than we did.
Either way, the issues of the staff were more than made up for by the amazing views from the roof-terrace outside our room, and the comfort of the bedrooms.

This hotel is located in the picturesque village of Vila das Pombas and is surrounded by a sugar cane field and beautiful garden full of fruits and flowers. The rooms are nice, featuring TV and a fridge, but no air conditioning. The bed however, is incredibly narrow and short which can make it quite uncomfortable. Breakfast is served on the nice roof terrace, but as a preparation for a day of hiking (what most people will do) it is not very substantial: 1,5 sandwich per person with some jelly, and a slice of papaya. You'll need to eat again two hours later. The staff were helpful when you asked them, but otherwise seemed rather disinterested in their guests. Nevertheless, we found this was one of the better hotels on Santo Antao.
