All all-inclusive hotel, bounded by a very long beach, scrub/desert inland and nearest settlement about 5 km away. This is Africa, not Europe. Everything on the spot: excellent food in the hotel, entertainment provided during the day and evening if you want it (9.30pm shows are a must), large, warm swimming pools. Go out and you have a long empty beach with dunes - we did a lot of walking and local exploring. Get off the beaten track and there is absolutely nobody about. Beach is great for windsurfing but not for swimming. Red flag all day, every day. Windy and large waves - we enjoyed standing in the sea and feeling the surf break over us - not too far out! Low rise accommodation - we were lucky to have an apartment closest to the beach (25 metres away). Very few British people. We were the only ones from a full plane to go to this hotel. The entertainment is mostly in French but reception and other staff understand English and we had no problems. Local currency and euros are interchangeable. It took a while for us to work this out. People generally ask for payment in euros but will accept escudos. We visited Sal Rei (capital) twice by taxi - 10 km away and we hired the taxi driver who took us back, for a day, to take us right round the island, Eye-opening trip - cheaper and much more flexible than the standard tours provided by the tour operator. One decent road, otherwise cobbled or dirt tracks - quite unbelievable. The 4x4 taxi travelled at times at walking pace as it negotiated the very awkward terrain. We travelled during winter time at Cape Verde. Weather was ideal for us - around 25C, plenty of sun. Just one and a half days when it was overcast and a few drops of rain fell. My wife enjoyed feeding the hotel cats - we had our own "resident" cat - and also the cheeky sparrows. Room service was very good - if we needed something and asked for it, it was done.

Room Tip: In 643 you could hear the sea all night with door open but quiet otherwise - no bar/disco noise. Fur...

We just had a great week in the sun at the Royal Decameron hotel, a very nice hotel
All the rooms seem to have nice views of the ocean with balconies and clean great locations right on the massive beach. This is a great hotel to just chill out around one of the 3 pools our on the large open beach this hotel also had a great selection of food in the restaurant so I would rate this hotel 8 out of 10 that's very good on my scale of over a hundred hotels around the world

Room Tip: Any room looked good

This is an all-inclusive hotel, and I must say the food was fabulous. There was a great variety that should suit everybody, the food was continually topped up so it did not run out whatever time you went for a meal. There was also a beach bar with good food and snacks during the day. The draught beer was good, and the spirits were ok, however the red wine was awful and my wife drinks red wine. There is no corner shop close to the hotel (business opportunity perhaps?) the bottled water was 2 euro a big bottle, however staff would usually top your bottle up from the filtered water served at the bar. The staff were really helpful, the accommodation we had was very good, and comfortable but was really designed for self-catering as we had a kitchen etc. The pool was good, plenty of sun loungers around the pool and on the beach. The red flag (no swimming) was flying all week (February) in the beach. I did venture in – you could feel the current trying to drag you off, don’t go in any more that waist deep and don’t get out of your depth and don’t whatever you do let the kids anywhere near the sea! The daytime entertainment was great for the kids however the evening entertainment was a bit hit and miss.

The Hotel is less than 15 mins drive from the airport, on arrival at the hotel you have to pay 20 euros each ( holiday tax ).The rooms are of a good size with a flat screen tv with a few English speaking channels the maids attend the rooms everyday.
The staff are excellent and are a credit to the management (to name a few Herminio, Elvisn, Denise & Adileto who work in the bars ).The food is very good with much variety.
The beaches are fantastic but be warned it can be extremely windy and the sea can very rough,There is very little to do at this location unless you like kite surfing, fortunately for us we like walking.
We hired a 4x4 with a driver for half a day and visited Sal Rei, Santa Monnica Beach Viana Desert and other locations.
Going into the towns you can be pestered by people trying to get you into the shops to buy their wares.
Overall this is a good Hotel and Cape Verde is an interesting place to visit I would recommend it is worth a visit.

Room Tip: Definitely book a room with a sea view , worth paying the extra.

Every one very friendly, clean property we had a bungalow over looking the beach/sea. Food very good alot to choose from, could not fault a thing. We have booked up again for 2018. The place is better than the brochure. We met lovely people, We walked alot across the sand came across a little cafe just in the middle of no-were on the sand dunes. Entertainment fair but they worked hard with what they had. Just a lovely holiday.
